If you never attended a Simple Minds concert; or a U2 concert, or saw a live performance by David Bowie in the late 80's, you truly missed out.

Bowie impacted my life in a big way, but I thought and still think Glass Spider was just dreadful. The tour footage makes me cringe.

I was there , simple minds were great and the main man gave a speech. 30 years later I read that Nelson Mandela said that he went to a concert at wembley stadium but had no real memories of the day. One of the great days of my life and my hero had no memories ? He still remains , along with Martin Luther and Mahatma Ghandi the greatest people of my generation. we are still hoping for the day that the colour of your skin or your sexuality or your religion does not define you or seperate you from mainstream society

What an odd comment. It's not a competition, is it? "What if [enter a band name] had performed here?" What if the sun would have moved around the earth?

Not sure why people always have to mention U2 when it comes to Simple Minds, it's possible to just enjoy both bands, it's quite easy actually.

Because Jim Kerr himself talks about how SM and U2 were on par with each other at one time. It's a perfectly fair subject to discuss.

This blaring on the Wildwood boardwalk when I was 16 going on 25 from 2 blocks away and the smell of curly fries & funnel cake and the salt air from the beach on my sunburned face hoping to catch the eye of the perfect girl. (PRICELESS)

Odd time ... The beginning of the end for SM.. no Forbes, no MickMcNeil, and they're just about to royally bury their reputation with the horrifically pompous Street Fighting Years - they'd never regain ground.

Mick mcneil is on stage He left after the street fighting years tour
@Martindrummond73 Жыл бұрын
I agree, although Mick MacNeil is playing here and was part of Street Fighting Years. It has some good tunes on it, but I haven’t listened to it for years. I was 15 in 1988, had only been into Simple Minds for 2 years or there about, and this was the first time I saw them live, albeit on the TV. I also recorded it on vhs, and this song was warped to shit on the tape because it was played so much. Still sounds amazing to these ears.

I'd say its ALIVE AND KICKING.........and I always play this song in my Porsche and I think I am the one that has put 4,000 hits on it on youtube. What a great band and a part of my childhood. The first band I ever played drums in played this song and we always got people happy and they loved it. The 80's was an amazing time and some great music, and god rest his soul but the drummer was also the Power Station drummer and a great drummer. Thanks for posting and I have tickets to the Orlando Florida Show.........can't wait.
