I understand that brand new fabrics have something added to them in the factory (like sizing) so they look nice on the bolt, but it washes out in the first wash, so you must prewash your fabric before you begin this process and the ink will be much more likely to be permanent. Also, iron the fabric after it comes out of the printer in order to set the ink into the fabric. Use a press cloth or a sheet of regular printer paper to keep any ink from getting on your iron, or smearing across your label sheet. then flip your label cloth over and iron it on the back as well.

For those wondering or having issues with the color bleeding or fading, try soaking your labels in white vinegar! After they’ve printed and dried, place them on a cookie sheet (one sheet at a time), let them sit and soak in the white vinegar for about 5 minutes, allow them to dry completely before using and done!

this keeps them from fading?? Really? wow. thanks!~~

The ink/printing is more permanent if printed on PFD fabric or you can pre-treat your own natural cotton or silk fabric with "BubbleJet" following instructions on label. (PFD: Prepared For Dying -- HTHs).

Wow, this is amazing! Thanks so much :D Would you happen to know how well these labels hold up in the wash? As in, do they fade quickly or not? AND, do I have to use an ink jet printer, or do laser work with this technique as well?? So many questions, sorry!!
@HappyBerryCrochet8 жыл бұрын
Laser printer should work too, although haven't tested it myself, as for holding up in the wash, I've washed them a few times and they have been ok, they will fade over time just like normal labels do, but best to experiment first before sewing on to your project as all wash cycles and inks vary!

Great idea!! What are some of your tips for coming up with a logo! Thank you in advance!
@HappyBerryCrochet8 жыл бұрын
Well as a graphic/web designer by trade I recommend designing a logo that works for everything you need such as business cards, websites etc etc, what works on one platform may not sit well on another, keep it clean and simple, avoid overly fancy text so it scales down well and try and choose something that you can grow with/is timeless. Hope that helps a little!

Hey Laura. Fab tutorial. Thank you! I have silicone coated paper. Would that work??
@Poenut8 жыл бұрын
Julie Zoom silicone tends to be heat resistant so I don't think it would stick to the fabric. Wax paper really has to be used because the irons heat makes the wax from the paper stick to the fabric

I used Fireworks, which is similar to Photoshop, but you can probably use any design software you have, as long as you use/save as vector graphics. This means your logo can be scaled up or down without losing quality. I hope that helps a bit.

Sorry, not sure why you're spraying water on it? Let the ink dry before washing although I do not recommend washing these labels as they will fade over time. As someone else suggested you could try using vinegar to set your labels.
