If you cut them out without any fusible webbing attached to the fabric, it will fray. With the fusible webbing, it keeps fraying to a minimum. You can also apply fray check or sew a finishing stitch around the edges.

I use freezer paper, which can be purchased in the fabric store. I also use double sided fusible webbing, some of the brand names are wonder under or steam-a-seam. They're found in the fabric store.

If your just printing simple black text on fabric.....You don't need the bubble jet stuff, it works perfectly fine with freezer paper and cotton fabric. The key is to hand wash your fabric first with dawn dish soap. After it dries, iron your fabric to the freezer paper and then tape into down onto your standard printer paper. Finally, run it through your inkjet machine. Afterwards, seal the ink by placing a piece of parchment paper on top of your prints and giving it a good iron.

I had a lot of plans...and bought the Bubble jet stuff a year ago. Thank Goodness...because I am now needing to make labels from my ETSY shop - The Art to Be. How many other folks forget why they got something...and then remembered months later! LOL anyway, this tutorial was helpful in the nick of time. I would also recommend STAZ-on ink pads, if anyone wants to do any stamping...that works good too.

Thank you. Your videos are very detailed and visible. (a very steady camera and well lit) Best sewing site I have found.

When you run the test sheet, write up on one side and down on the other, just ensure to place the up side up and the down side down so you know for sure which side your printer utilizes.

It says it'll only work on 100% cotton or 100% silk. It does not recommend using it on poly/cotton.

please tell me what programme you used to get multiple labels on one sheet please
@ProfessorPincushion7 жыл бұрын
honestly, I think I just used a generic word processing program and just imported my image and just repeated the image.

Jane Davies you can use regular word program for making mailing lables

On the bottle is does say the solution can be reused and to "pour the solution back in the bottle and replace cap" so I guess that's a yes. :)

I did not try that but I thought hot water tends to fade colors, which is why I wash my darks in cold water when doing laundry.

Hi, I have a laser printer, can I use it to print?
@amberlindsey71128 жыл бұрын
I know this is kind of late but I recently found a tutorial for someone that did this same method using a laser printer and it worked just fine for them. I figure I am going to give it a try.

HI professor, this is what i was looking for, so good, but i have a question, i found in amazon something called Roll Photo Fabric to use in a printer, it is fabric and paper backed, can i use this instead your method you are teaching? or your instructions work better??? what you suggest>? i found out too the roll photo fabric can be just hand washed or dry cleaned..
@ProfessorPincushion10 жыл бұрын
Gabriela Roa yes you definitely can use that. After you print it, you can remove the paper backing and iron on fusible webbing, like our demonstration, if you're looking to iron it onto fabric. I used something similar years ago when it was still a new thing. The pictures I printed on the fabric have faded over time so I hope technology has improved. Let me know how it works out for you :D

This is an awesome video would have never assumed that I can print on fabric. I'm an HTML coder/web design person, and never thought of mixing the two together! Where can we get the bubble jet stuff? I'm going to search for it.. but thought you might know the BEST place to get it. :D Addicted to your videos, thank you!

in our description above, you'll see a link on where to purchase it directly from the manufacturer. I haven't seen it in actual retail stores before, just online.

It works best if you cut your fabric on the bias so that it never frays ;)

I want to make a toy using this method. I have a design I want to print onto fabric and then I’ll be seeing it into a shape. I was wondering if, once washed, is the ink okay and safe? Would a child be able to play with the toy? What if they get their mouth on it?

Hi I just post to ask you if this can be done with Wax Paper such as Cutrite as oppose to freezer paper to make your own fabric labels to print on using the inkjet printer just asking. I look forward to your reply a.s.a.p. Tafs
@ProfessorPincushion7 жыл бұрын
The difference between the two is that freezer paper has the wax on one side as wax paper has it on both. You don't want to accidentally get wax on your iron.

+Professor Pincushion; Ok thanks & thanks for your feedback;so your saying/suggesting that freezer paper is better to use for this project as oppose to the wax paper just asking. I look forward to your reply as soon as possible.
