Generation One is the best of all the animated series, as I've got older they are more cheesy obviously but I can put them in and watch them over and over unlike some of the newer series that just never sit well enough with me to want to re-watch them. My only gripe was with the movie killing off Prime, even though they brought him back I would of liked another season or 2 with all the original guys before killing him off to introduce the next generation. It would of been easier to swallow and I believe the series runs longer because of it. Those G1 toys were so cool, I was obsessed with them and it was all I asked for as a kid for Christmas and Birthday's lol great times.

That has to be one of the best put together box sets I've seen in quite some time! It looks like it was made by fans for fans, which is always great when you see companies actually put time and effort into their back catalogue. To me Transformers will always be the G1 versions as it just had everything the transform sound effect, Starscream and Megatrons relationship was never done better than in the original series and its just the perfect mix of 80's cheese and coolness that just cant be recaptured with all these new revisions and movies.

Are you kidding me!! I am a girl who has loved the original Transformers series since I was very young and I will never ever stop watching it. I had to choose between buying this or Copic markers for school, I would not even hesitate to buy this glorious piece of work.

Awesome. I always love it when companies do stuff like this with their old shows, because it's very obvious that they're doing it for the fans. This box set looks pretty cool, and I'm sure the GI Joe one will be as well. It's certainly a good price too, most complete series box sets like this are usually $200+, and I also like that Shout Factory made the individual sets available for those who wouldn't be able to afford the big box set.

It's amazing how much of a shelf life "Transformers" has had. Most animated shows are there for the moment, and then they're gone. "Transformers" has had, I think, seven different animated incarnations since G1, comics and a live action franchise that has generated box office returns that have gone past $1 Billion. Not bad if I do say so myself.

Very pleasing to my optic sensors. The Hasbro and Japanese toy reissues with Dreamwave box-art are EPIC and a must have. They are very expensive now unfortunately :(

Great buy! It's cool that there's extra stuff like the artbook. :) The thing is, the original box sets (I have them all) is a total 18 discs, just seperately (Season 1, Season 2 Parts 1 and 2, and Season 3 &4 Parts 1 and 2). They're released by Rhino, and the quality's pretty good. Don't know which has more extra features, probably your box set. I know there's interviews (I think), commercials, bumpers and botcon documentaries. Each box also has a couple animation cells (so 10 cells in all).

jazz on that show was played by Scatman Crothers (Hong Kong Fuey) I thinjk it was his last voice over role. I remember this. You realize of course on Family Guy recently they got the REAL voice to do that cameo. ..You rock. video games, cartoons....we will never get old.

Really cool box and magnets though. :) After the original box sets came out, about a year, they were about $40 a piece. Still, $200 (for 5 boxes) versus $150 is definitely a very nice price.

Great looking box set. It's great to see the G1 series getting such a good treatment. The fan service is a nice touch and shows the care put into this whole thing. Thanks for showing it off. It's now that much harder to hold onto that $140. :)

Now that's a piece of camp right there. I wish I had more money to spend but with KOF XII and the new version of Melty Blood coming out just around the corner, all my pissing away dough is pretty much tied up. It's awesome that they are finally releasing all these fantastic shows from the 80' on DVD. And with such wonderful packaging. That reminds me, I really need to buy all the other Thundercats DVD box sets before they become completely impossible to get.

I got the G1 season sets separately instead of the boxset. But I'm so happy to have the complete series that I adored as a child (and still do). Did you ever see Beast Wars (Beasties for us Canadians)? I don't want to give away anything, but it is part of G1 and is a brilliantly written show. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you do. Shout also released a boxset for it. :)

that is great collection of transformers, i am with you too and i am a first generation transformers fans more than recent movie transformer fan. i also grew up watching the tv series back when i was a kid. would not miss a sigle episode!, but i watched them in spanish because at that time i was not living in north america just yet. great dvd set here man!

if you look up Zaranyzerak here on youtube you will find Sean Mclean, he is the guy who contributed most if not all of the toy commercials featured in that exact box set. He is also a good friend of mine :) just thought id let you know if you ever wanted to thank someone for some of the content on the set he is one of many fans to find (Look for his name on the box set i know its there)

I have the complete set about 2 years ago when it was Chinese with an English language options. It included the 1986 Movie. I am thinking of getting the G.I. Joe set as well.

I got the Chinese version of the entire Series in one set. For like $90 bucks. Chinese DVDs are region free and they're the english episodes. You can buy it on amazon...I recommend that.

Ah nice. Before the fist movie came out, I got really pumped about Transformers. The UK had a complete G1 Box set as well that came out around 2004 (or 2005). Not as nice looking at yours (regular DVDs with "meh" artworks stuffed in a regular box) but I cost me around 100 USD. I believe I have bought the 80s movie around 3 times (an old bad 4:3 version, the one that came in the box set, and later on the remastered 2 disc set), now I'm thinking about getting the remastered movie on Blu-Ray ;)

That looks amazing even though im not really a transfomers fan since I never grew up with it (born 1990) but I was thinking about getting the Season 1 DVD to see if its as awesome as people say. Especially since Season 1 was £5 (for the sake of comparison a McDonalds Medium Meal is about £4.50). Wierdly the other box sets, for £5 each, are Season 2 Pt1, Season 2 Pt 2 and Seasons 3&4. And the animated movie is £3. Might just pick it up in a oneer to try it out. Cant wait for more videos :)

Cool set. To bad that the American standard for DVDs is 480i and not 576p as the European version. You wont notice on a good old TV screen, but when LCD, Plasma, LED is your new TV, you will notice those 100px. Though, the NTSC have much better frame rate.
