How to Feed a Sulcata Tortoise

Tortoises are so fascinating👍 I understand about the flies! I live in North Texas, and we have horrendous fly issues this summer. I hate them so much. Fortunately I have noticed some toads and frogs🐸 hanging around also 🙂

So, would you not recommend the powder calcium in older tortoises? I have a 4-5 year old sulcatta. I'm always wondering if I'm feeding her right. She does eat a lot of romaine lettuce. Sometimes watermelon, sometimes nopal, sometimes green apples (not all at the same time of course). I don't have access to the grasses and weeds that people usually mention to feed. I give her dandelion greens now and then too. But... I'm adding that calcium powder to her food every other day! She has no pyramiding, she's beautiful, but I'm afraid those things can happen slowly over time if I'm doing something wrong, you know??

Hello. I'm a year late. Hope u see this comment. I just got a tortoise as a gift and I don't anything about these things. I did sum research and I cannot really identify what breed/species it is. The closest I say is a leopard back tortoise but I really don't know. It is so small but it's 3 years old like wft. So basically I need to a reference point where I can go and read about these 🐢

Hey! This comment has nothing to do with your video but I was wondering if you could give me some advice about birds! So I am 12 and homeschooled ( for the most part ). And my family is looking for a pet bird. First of all this bird would get LOTS of attention (I have 3 siblings!) and we want a bird that on the medium size just because we feel that big is too big and small just seems a bit to fragile! Any ways I was just wondering if you know of any good bird breeds that you would recommend!? Thank you so much!

Please don't feed your tortoise dog food if you have a sulcata. It can make him sick.
