Spent 3 days on Hapscut and no matter where I went it was straight up wind each day. So I practiced setting the leeboard, rudder, mizzen and outboard so the boat would drive itself. Note I have the leeboard all the way down, mizzen sheeted in tight, rudder is angled back at about 30 degrees, which is just enough to clear the propeller, and not tied down also mainsail is sitting on the cabin top to reduce windage. I found I can steer the boat some by leaning to port of starboard near the aft end of the cockpit which slowly changes the heading. I sat on a folding chair just behind the cabin later so I could rest better. The boat motored itself for about an hour without me touching the motor or rudder.
