Hi Randy. That's amazing! Do you mean the guesthouse we stayed in there? That's incredible if so. We loved that place and the owner was very proud that there were original furnishings. I imagine it would have been great to work for the railways there. The people all seemed friendly and happy there. 😍 My great uncle was a SM in a small village in Gloucestershire UK and his garden was full of old railway paraphernalia. I used to play amongst them as a small child when visiting and now I feel a great affinity with the small railway stations.

It was our favourite 😊 Beautifully kept and so authentic. Hardly changed from the Victorian era. I love the pristine white uniforms that the station masters wear also. ❤️

How lovely. I think there are some fairly famous local personalities buried there. It had a wonderful air to it and really reminded me of some of the churches in the small towns and villages around Stratford upon Avon, not far from my city. Really made me feel homesick in a nice way. ❤️

Its good to see you guys from Britain visiting this beautiful town of Haputale. It's one of the nicest towns in Sri Lanka. Haputale had a very pleasant climate with a beautiful view of the southern region of Sri Lanka. In terms of the view I feel Haputale has the best view among the upcountry regions of Sri Lanka. I lived in this region for over 10 years prior to 2003 as my father was working as a manager at one of the tea factories in this region. I use to travel to school passing Haputale everyday. During the time we were there Haputale was very low key among tourists and even Ella was not popular during that time. Since of late Haputale has become a tourist hot spot among the foreign travelers. The church you visited was the church we were attending during those 10 years. It resembles Britain very much. When we were there it was a very small church with 90% of the worshippers from Tamil speaking community and during that time it had a congregation of 50 to 60 people. What you mentioned about Haputale Railway station is very true and it surely is a far nicer railway station than Ella Station.Enjoy the rest of your tour in Sri Lanka.

@@FrugalTravellers You're very welcome Lee. Definitely it brought fond memories after watching your vlog especially the church. Inside of the church looks the same but outside it has changed a bit. I can remember there was no washroom in the church & my father helped to build one during our time there. Those days there wasn't a separate priest assigned to the church as it was a small church and the priest was visiting from the main church in the city called Bandarawela.Services were held every fortnight on Sundays during that time. Don't know whether it has changed now. I'm glad you both enjoyed Haputale very much. It doesn't have the hype that Ella or Nuwara Eliya has, but it surely is a hidden gem as you correctly mentioned. It surely was a nice place to grow up in. I enjoyed the climate and the quiet surrounding haputale had during that time. During the 90's & early 2000's when we were there it was very laid back and now its bit more developed with many new hotels & other commercial places that have sprung up. More & more tourists are visiting Haputale than it used to be which is good to see. Yes I will try to watch some of your other vlogs of your tour in Sri Lanka too. Hope you have a safe journey to your next destination.

Coconut treacle not honey ..Many Sri Lankans have one Sinhala word for both honey and treacle. Say they wrongly call treacle either Kithul ( phloem.sap from palm.trees ) pol or coconut treacle from the coconut. Mee pani is bee honey. Just some words you can impress the locals with🤣🤣ask them pol pani ie treacle or Mee pani that is bee honey.
