Its an awe inspiring place but also a very saddening place sometimes, life must be fought for and consistently energy must be put toward survival or else you get cast to the wayside and fall into the trap of being among thoae who have less than and never will work thwir way out of that position. Life consists of so much more than cities have to offer and yet many in places like Varanasi will never have opportunity to truly see the world for what it is. Astounding and magnificent and tragic and fulfilling and draining etc. The world is all of these things and everything in between, Varanasi does not dissappint in terms of being able to see at least glimpses of many modes of life people find themselves in. From the constant hustle and bustle, to talking incessantly all day every day, to taking vows to not speak whatsoever and abiding by that vow for yeats or decades or more even.

Find FloDriver of Gjirokaster or Illy or the kids at the clock tower in Berat. The lace ladies all over. Just like in India, i got clothes adjusted for €1 on the spot. A barber trimmed my fringe for free. It's a truly magical place. Some parts reminded me of India or Naples. And the buses are next level crazy.
