Thanks. I was curious about this and happy to see that it's a winner.

To get the ways even... use clamps to clamp your level to the lathe. Then clamp the extension to the level. That will (in theory) force both to reference the level.

Very good idea, i will definitely do that next time. Thanks for the tip.

I wasnt that surprised at all i actually am a retired Woodworker that spent 25 years doing it professionally and over 35 as a hobby over the years many of the Harbor Freihjt tools have actually increased in quality and in manufacturing to the point that their tool has become the actual preferred brand in many shops the athens you have a couple of bench sanders and their 14” Bandsaw which is a pretty darn good clone of the Delta 14 “ to the point that most of the parts are interchangeable btw Delta doesn’t even build there own in the United States any longer so the HF and various other companies do seem to rebrand the same unit with several other brands all built in Taiwan many small shops or hobbyists ;ok for the used Harbor Freight saws on Craigslist and Ebay and snatch them up as fast as they can i think Harbor Freight doesn’t always carry the Lathe in the stores any more so they go fast on the used market too

I can tell you with 100% certainty that rebranding tools is a very common practice.
@BubbasWorkbench4 жыл бұрын
Ya, i really wasnt surprised either just a fun proof of concept., thats been going on forever as it would seem. So many tools and audio speakers are rebrands. I guess it comes down to paying for the sticker affixed upon the item lol.

@@BubbasWorkbench that's exactly it. Sometimes companys will have small things changed or beefed up but thats it. Most of the woodworking tools are rebrands of the old jet tools from the 80s and 90s

Hey freind. Can that be used for pool cue shafts? I just wanna use it to redo the end of a pool cue.
@BubbasWorkbench10 ай бұрын
I would say yes if its a multi section pool cue. For instance with the bed extension you should be able to turn a baseball bat. If the section is the same or smaller than a bat the yes. Will need a stabilizer for middle of cue to minimize flexing as you turn.

@@BubbasWorkbench it’d be just the shaft. I unscrew it from the butt end.

I was looking to buy one of these and was hoping that it would work

Its a great beginning lathe that wont break the bank. Im still learning and far from good but already plan to upgrade to a bigger lathe in the future. The nice thing is all the accessories / tools will work on the bigger lathes so no money wasted.

I don’t understand how it’d hold the shaft of a pool cue. I can buy this at harbor for 148. Display model. It doesn’t come with anything extra.

Your going to need a chuck for the head stock with jaws big enough to hold your blank and live center for tail stock.
