*We lost tire pressure on a run-flat tire while driving in western Montana on our way home to South Carolina. Like many things ‘Mercedes’ there wasn’t a quick fix available in the entire state. Turns out we had to drive to St. Paul, MN, for repairs, a distance of 1268 miles. . . on a flat tire. Why drive on a flat tire? Well, the tire is a Pirelli 275/35 R20, which slightly rarer than chicken teeth. On top of that the key that unlocks the wheels was stripped and not useable. (Special order from Mercedes.) This meant stopping every 30 miles to add air. It also meant adding air every morning, and after every rest stop or meal break. (FYI; lost count of fills after 50 or so and I am now SURE I can be a big help in the pits on the Nascar circuit.) Enter the Viair 88P - GAME CHANGER! This pump is spectacular. It can fill my oversize tire in less than 2 minutes, and it’s quiet. To provide TONS of power it hooks directly to the battery when the car is running (of course I tried it without the car running…nope. Care would not start due to the battery drain.) This is one SERIOUS tire pump. Most people would never have to stress a tool the way I did the Viair 88P, and it came through like a true champion. I would unconditionally recommend this pump. It is a great value and a great tool.*

When I try to use this, the needle moves straight to 60psi. This was before placing it on the tire. I put it on and it doesn't move. Then I tried it with it on the tire before starting it up and the same thing happened. Tried it on another tire and it started at 60 and moved to over 100. All my tires need is 32 psi. Can the gauge be adjusted?

It says you shouldn't use on vehicle tires... What is it for then?

There's no way it goes up to 250 without overheating

It'll probably work for small volume high psi like Monroe Max Air 150psi air shocks

How is this compared to the Masterflow 12v Basic Air Compressor / Inflator?

Is nobody aware these pumps say in the book "not for car tires".
@AndrewBrowner6 жыл бұрын
yeah most likely because theres no safety shut off/ tire setting.. so if you plug it in forget about it and it fills your tire to 150 psi there could be casualties on their hands.. that note in their book covers them in court although most car tires work best around 30 psi they wont explode until well over 100 psi possibly over 200 psi.. its common practice in tire shops to fill a tire over 100 psi to get a stubborn lip to pop onto the rim

That's what I'm saying though

Good for keeping car tires same psi level..imo not for flats 0 psi. Seasons get cold, so i go out get all 4 tire even. Added 4 psi in front tire an 3 psi rear. PS - I use to spend 7 or 8 quarters to do each time what I did with 7.99 Pitt air comp

Did you read the fine prints? That pump is not to be used for pumping car tires.......it is for pumping basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs and bicycle tires.......NOT car/truck tires......I repeat not car/truck tires....

Yeah but that’s what we really wanted to see

This would be excellent for bicycle tires, particularly for road bikes with 120-PSI tires.

On side of the highway your tire won't be flat; it will be busted and all the air in the world won't inflate it.
@imstricken063 жыл бұрын
Not true. Just last week, i was doing 75mph and I got an alert from my tpms that my pressure was 27. Then 26. Then 25. I pulled over and could hear a slight hssssssssss. I changed my tire (would have plugged it but couldn’t find the hole at the time). It’s people who don’t change their tpms sensors, and drive around with dead sensors never knowing of a tire truly is going flat while doing 65. Or it’s those who never check their tire pressure. Of course traumatic damage can happen instantly but then a pump won’t help.

It is a Pretender, a Mimic of a real "air compressor", a P.R.C. cheap-ass 3rd-rate Half-Ass tire pump. The wires and connectors are thrown together in slap-dash style. I've gotten a little bit of work out of it pumping up bicycle tires. A cruel Joke of a tool, a D- rating.
