Perfect. Going to grab one from Harbor Freight and polish up the aluminum on the truck, it is a 2021 Freightliner, aluminum is still new so it will shine up pretty quick. Thanks for the video!

Try cleaning it too, you don't buff with dirt.

That’s a good tool for touch up polishing , I used that for years on my Peterbilt, when standing by that’s a good machine to use to do touch ups, to cut I prefer a makita or dewalt variable speed with a 8” airway orange wheel and that brown rouge. Then hit it with the yellow and green and then to finish you can use something like that tool he’s using with some good hand polish

Yes I later realized I need the dewalt grinder with the wheels and brown. Might have to try when it warms up.

You don’t wipe the polish til finished the polish turning black like that is doing exactly what it’s supposed to

Wish he had watched a video on polishing wheels before this was made. He’s used a “LOT” of product in this video, and unfortunately the wrong starting product. First and foremost, wash the wheel! Get that heavy loose dirt off, then deoxidize, for horribly corroded wheels like that, use acid, followed immediately by an alkali cleaner, then a compound that moderately aggressive, and then finish with that Mothers product. The problem wasn’t the tool, it was when and how it was used. Your just basically “sanding” your wheel and swirling in contaminates that will keep that wheel from ever getting shined to its full potential. 🤦🏽♂️

I was going write a response when i saw yours, i agree when i 1st saw this, but as you know there alot of backyard DIY'ers that will not invest the time into doing it the right way.

If you had a better polish then mother's you'd be looking damn good. Honestly it looks way better than before

I am thinking I need one of those 9” grinders and all the cutting and polishing compounds
@stormpatriots93635 жыл бұрын
You can also use 0000 steel wool with mother’s polish. It sounds crazy but it actually works very well.

Where do i start, if you want a great outcome you have to follow the right steps, you missed almost every step and went right for the second to last step. The last step would be to coat your rims with a good sealant, all that work you put in you want it to last, but prior to that you missed all the prep work needed before you even picked up that tool. Was painful to watch PS ALWAYS tape your tires, good luck getting that residue off your tire.

If you sand the rim with 1500 to 3000 grit sand paper and then polish it will come out like chrome.

Wet sand?
@Electrolab28Ag4 жыл бұрын
@@ruderocky1431 You can wet sand up to 2500 Grit and then dry sand with 3000 and polish after.

Have to clean the dirt off first. Start with a clean surface.
