Great instructional video! I had an earlier model of this kit several years ago that I used extensively building my house. I moved to gravity feed guns for the ease of clean-up and they were fine for most smaller projects but I missed the functionality for the pressure pot model. I purchased this new model several months ago and was disappointed in the manual. Thanks again for the explanation and the tips.
@ghostses

Thanks David! Glad you found it useful. I, personally, have mostly moved away from my gravity fed guns. I agree the gravity fed guns are easier to clean though. Also agreed- the manual is garbage and would turn most folks off using this setup. Hopefully my tips will steer you in the right direction should you give yours another go. Take care and good luck, G.

many thanks for the detailed review of this (and other HF sprayers). you convinced me to try this (and avoid the lesser expensive one). I am painting cabinets indoors and was unable to get the undersides with my gravity feed sprayer, but also the cup gets in the way. I could list so many reasons why this unit is very well worth the money. Main thing for me is the ability to get into tight corners and undersides, but being able to force the paint out under pressure allows for less thinning but also allows for lower air pressure which results in minimal overspray. I was reluctant to buy this unit because at $60 it's not really disposable like the other HF sprayers I have bought. But the value I get out of this unit is easily $60/per day so I could justify getting a new one frequently. Hopefully I can keep it clean and it will last a couple years like yours.
@ghostses

That's the exact reason I wen't with this setup- painting cabinets. Same problem with my gravity fed guns. It worked out great in every way. Super clean it after each use and it should last quite some time. Good luck, G.

Thank you for this review, was looking into this for painting my deck (and eventually the interior) and this helped a lot. One thing I need to look at now is a decent air compressor. I have a cheapy that I use mostly for...well, tire pressure mostly. Is one of those portable ones that doesn't really do much, I think it's rated for brad and thats about it. Thank you again and I hope 2020 has been kind.

thanks for your very informative video clip, my question is that even on HVLP you set the pressure at the gun 25psi and the pot on 40psi? I thought conventional gun and pot takes this pressure. and on the HVLP we set around 5 to 8 psi
@ghostses
@ghostses 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I set the pressure at the gun (trigger pulled) to 25psi. But no, I set the pot regulator pressure to 3-5psi on the gauge. The post pressure should be set just high enough to push the material into the air-stream. I hope this helps. Good luck, G.

Cheap tools & materials represent the single biggest mistake DIYers make when approaching these types of projects. Remember tools are not an expense, they are an investment that you make in order to achieve superior results. And once the job is done they can then be sold for 80-90% of their value, so in the end it will cost less than renting. These 2 budget HVLP Systems are the best hold their value: 1st choice: Fuji 2202 Semi-PRO 2 (2203 gravity version) & 2nd choice: Earlex HV5500.
@ghostses
@ghostses 5 жыл бұрын
I won't disagree in the whole John. I have tools from the top shelf down. Personally, I make my decisions based on expectations, and of coarse dollars. For what this is, and what it costs, it works surprisingly well for primers and paints. Granted, I've not tried it for lacquers or poly's so I can't speak on that. Take care, G.

Thank you for the very detailed explanation of the system and the errors in the manual. You have definitely saved me a lot of head scratching LOL I do have one question though, do you have to raise or lower the pot pressure for different thicknesses of paints, or should it always just be a couple of pounds?
@ghostses
@ghostses 4 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it. And yes to your question. The more viscous the material the more pot pressure you would need for a consistent flow. Less viscous would require less pressure for a consistent flow. The objective is to give just enough pressure in the pot to get a good flow and still have the ability to properly atomize the material. I hope this make sense. Take care, G.

@@ghostses It makes total sense, thank you. I don't think I will have too much of a problem with it as I bought it to prime and paint the under side of my Mustang because I don't have a lift and I figured this would be less trouble than a gravity feed gun.

@ghostses

Sam, the regulator I used wasn't NPT- but something different. For the life of me- I can't recall what that fitting is called. Perhaps you can look for a site that sells pressure pots and look there to find the correct name. Not much help- but good luck, G.

It might but I can't say for sure. It does look pretty thick. I'm sure it would push it through the gun, but don't know how well it would atomize. Hi, I've just bought one of these spray guns and as a first time user, found your video most informative. I've set it up in a similar configuration to yours and have been using it to spray aluminum soffits. I have a question regarding the air regulator on top of the pressure pot. Is it normal to have air escaping from the bleed hole at all times, no matter whether the regulator is open or shut? This is what has been happening with mine and of course, my compressor has been cycling on and off more than I feel it should. I noticed that when you tried to get the pop off valve to open then closed the regulator back down at about 36:48, there was only a faint hiss of air. Mine constantly blasts out and I can feel the air jet at about 20 inches away, which doesn't seem right. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, Al
@ghostses
@ghostses 4 жыл бұрын
No, that's not normal Al. The only time air should come out of the bleed hole is when you reduce the pressure in the tank. Once it gets down to whatever the setting is- it should stop. I could see that problem if your inlet pressure from the compressor is too high. Try turning it down to see if it stops acting like that. If not, I would exchange it for another one and try again. Hope this helps, G.

@Gourockian1
@Gourockian1 4 жыл бұрын
@@ghostses Yep, it's faulty. I've just tried it again without fluid and compressor output set to 40PSI. It still constantly puts out air through the bleed hole, with the regulator screw backed out. Unfortunately, neither of the 2 HF stores in my area have it in stock just now so I'll have to make do with it to get my soffits finished, then exchange it asap. I only bought it last week so got plenty of time yet.

@@Gourockian1 Al, It sure sounds that way. Yeah, plenty of time to finish your job and exchange it for a new one inside of the 90 days. Once you do, be sure to test your replacement so you know it will work for your next task. I've heard too many times folks don't test something out and by the time they do- they're past the return/exchange period. HF can be hit and miss from one box to the next. Take care, G.
