I wanna thank you for this idea! The plastic film was always falling off the glass and I could never stick it on right. So yesterday, I went to my local Ace and picked up all the hardware and glass. What a difference it makes in maintenance and visibility! We'll see how it works out. Thanks again, Mike 🙂

Without the replaceable plastic film covering the glass on the inside, the blast medium will destroy the glass surface, so you have gained nothing and now will have to replace the glass window, which is more expensive.

Just an idea for the heavy stuff. I put a plastic I put a round plastic lazy Susan turn table thing in mine when I blasted a bench vise for a friend. Works great for the heavy stuff like that and just blast and spin.

if you don't want a bunch of bolts sticking up, you can do rivet nuts instead.

I use to just tape off a bunch of the glass and as it got pitted I’d remove some of the tape to expose some clear glass again. You can do half and half or however you want, top bottom then flip it top to bottom to have the clear in the bottom. Just some ideas.

I did the same mod for the window used thumb screws instead of wing nuts so the top of the machine screws are flush with them to eliminate snags. I left off the plexiglass and just have the tempered glass since the plexiglass scratched as fast as the inside clouded up. One trick to make the glass inside last longer is to coat it with 2" painters tape. Score it every 8" and just peal off another one when the opening fogs over.

Why would you put dirty glass on top of clean glass

I wonder how long before the glass gets foggy? How much longer does of last than the stick on protectors?

Dave did you ever remove that robot siphon tube and put the mod on the bottom of the cabinet dump door? I did that one first and man did it bring that old cabinet to life. $40 at ACE. Screw the T fitting with drain plug. Just go 1” 90 def male to F elbow and drill the hole just big enough for 3 threads to poke through the dump door and then use a 1” electrical box threaded cap to hold it in. The rest is cake. Plus no more stupid siphon tube taking up all that riom

Without the clear film on the inside of the cabinet, the glass will get pitted very soon. I am speaking from experience with my Skat-Blast cabinet.

Hi Watson, I have the same gremlins. I put a spanner down in front of me and when I go to get it it is gone. My friend stays about 6 miles away and he has the same problem? the spanner is right in front of you and you can not see it. what causes that?. I said old age as we are around 75 yrs plus. So yes I did buy a few more spaners eg 10mm and some more screwdrivers eg cross heads as they just seem to disapear. take care . I will just watch your mods, I have the same cabinet... bye.

I had a thought that a person might pipe the intake air to flow across the glass to keep particles from striking. It might be worthwhile to experiment with that. All it would cost would be some PVC pipe and glue. I put an in-line air spray nozzle with my gun to knock off the grit off and into the bottom before I open the door. It was cheap Amazon less than 10. The button is right under the trigger. Works well and super handy.

Good video, how did you get on with the tempered glass did it stay clearer ?
@siksixchevy16363 жыл бұрын
3/16” clear annealed glass helped me to keep it from breaking when you tap it with a part or the gun…tempered glass is a waste of $ it will etch just like annealed glass in the same amount of time with sand overspray. I use clear contact paper and change it once it’s foggy

Stupid idea with the glass.way ahead with the plastic film ,at least for 20$ you get 5 clean sceens instead of just one glass,,be scored up in couple days

I've had glass in mine for 4 years without the plastic sheet or plexiglass. I'm on my second pane of glass in 4 years. It goes bad a lot slower than those plastic sheets. I was changing them every 3-4 times I used the cabinet.
