Is there any way to get this damn thing to stop spinning. Trying to put a panel of drywall on there and having the damn thing move everywhere as made me break a few. I have a lot of small spaces so I can’t just lift it up and put it in because of posts and walls in the way so I have to slide it in. Very frustrating
@VIPHoldings
@VIPHoldings 3 ай бұрын
@dlewdm I don't think there is a way to keep it from spinning but I would recommend tilting it down and loading it as if you're putting it on the wall instead of trying to loft it up top. Have you tried that yet?

I was going to rent one since I only had a few ceiling panels to install but Northern Tools has their version on sale for 124.99! They had it marked $164.99 at the store but I showed them their website. Fantastic value and despite minor differences, this video is essential for assembly.

Per instructions you need to push the locking pin forward to keep it out of the holes when lowering it. It will stay in that position until the panel lowers then a mechanism moves it back to where it would lock the next time you use it.
@VIPHoldings
@VIPHoldings Жыл бұрын
Yes, it took me awhile to figure that out but I thought it was a nice feature... after I figured out how it really works 🤣

@Vasquez International Properties Holdings Inc. Yes, I'm still figuring things out myself. Used it for the first time yesterday and it works great. Although i have the Northern Tool version , your for the assembly instructions were extremely helpful. Also there is spparentky another saftey pin, called the "square pin" that restricts the inner tube from falling all the way down if the other pin misses the hole and the breaking mechanism fails. I didn’t use it last night because i couldn't figure it out. It's a large pin with a big circle attached to it.

Did the wire magically wrap itself into place? That's the bit I need and you skipped it?
@VIPHoldings
@VIPHoldings Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by "wrap itself. " The wire fence comes in 4'x8' sections at any big box store (i.e. lowes) and the metal brackets to keep it off the ground are usually right next to them.

A helpful tip that this guy seems to have overlooked.you should always use drywall adhesive aswell as screws when drywalling ceilings.

@@VIPHoldings drywall adhesive comes in quart tubes and you have to use a quart caulking gun to apply it.i been useing it for at least 25 to 30 years at least on all drywall patch work and ceilings.it will ensure that years down the road you won't have any movement that leads to a possibility of seams opening up.guys have a tendency to over set the screws and when this happens the screw is pulled in a little to far and it breaks the paper on the drywall weakening the screws hold. this is where drywall adhesive does it's job.its not as important for walls but I consider a must on all ceilings to ensure a good long lasting job.

@@bobowens3687 What does the adhesive bond the drywall to?
@bobowens3687
@bobowens3687 2 жыл бұрын
@@randallsemrau6911 the ceiling joists.you apply it on the joists or studs with a quart caulking gun right before you hang each sheet of drywall.you still screw the drywall to the joists or studs.it just gives it a lot more strength.i feal it's mandatory for ceilings not really needed for walls but if you really want a job that guarantees no movement as time goes on it don't hurt to apply it on walls aswell but it's more important on ceilings.
@bobowens3687
@bobowens3687 2 жыл бұрын
@@randallsemrau6911 when you see older drywalled ceilings or walls that start to have cracks appear in the seams it's usually is attributed to the fact that the drywall wasn't screwed properly and or glue wasn't used at all.it prevents future seam separation or cracks to appear.

Are the hooks reversed? In other words, the way it is assembled, is it possible to use the lift for placing wall panels? For example, panels high on a wall. Or, are these hooks reversible and this is the way for ceilings? Thanks.
