Harbor Freight Flag Pole Unboxing and Install

Check out the Harbor Freight Flag Pole with the flag. I also dug the hole and cemented the pvc pipe in the ground for the pole. I also did this for the 4th of July Independence Day of 2020. You put the poles up, then drop each section down about 2" and give the pipe a little twist to make the stay up when raising the flag. I drop them back down 2" because they would slide back down and seem to stay up better.

Welcome to being an American, xxaznbloodflipzz. If you bought the Harbor Freight Flag Pole, you might find that in windy weather, the pole will slide inside itself again. So be ready to get some small metal screws to screw the sections so the flag pole will stay up and fly your flag proud. Thanks again for watching my video and God Bless.

Love the National Anthem. Hint: if you’ll tighten and loosen by turning the poles themselves instead of the aluminum fittings it will last much longer. The aluminum fittings tend to fail if you use those to tighten each section. Just twist the poles themselves right or left to tighten and in tighten. Easy peasy and no damage.

Very nice, very nice. A couple of things that Europeans are puzzled about Americans - - why do we put so much ice in our drinks and why do we fly our flag on our homes. Well, the ice is a personal thing (it gets HOT in NC) but I grew up saluting our flag everyday in school and saying the Pledge of Allegiance, and we saluted it in the Boy Scouts at every meeting and camp out. My great uncle, for whom I'm named, died in WW1. His widow rounded up us boys to go to the cemeteries and put flags on soldiers' graves on Veterans' & Memorial Days. To me (personally) it's a betrayal of our soldiers if I don't fly it everyday.

Nice video , thank you for flying our flag, the the anthem is a nice touch. But , I have a problem with a Chinese company making an American flag. This is not right and you installed it on the Fourth of July, of all days when American patriotism is at its highest. My wife and I just moved into our new , hand made in the USA log home. We are putting up a 25 ft flag pole purchased from a veteran owned company and 100% of this kit is made in the USA. Yes it was more expensive and made from heavier gauge aluminum to last longer, My comments are in no way , meant to demean you in any way. , there are just somethings that should never be bought from China and this is one . Thank you for displaying your flag , I’m just a bit disappointed, God bless the USA.

That is great and always makes you feel good to show America that you support her. Just a note. The pole needs the drain hole at the bottom of the pole, so the sleeve does not fill with rain water and start to rot the pole and also will freeze in the winter and might break or crack the pole JohnQ public. I found that if you keep messing with the locks on each pipe, they tend to not want to lock anymore. So I pull it out of the hole when I want to change the flag 426 Super Bee. Amen to the Pledge of Allegiance.

@@426superbee4 I would suggest to drop each section 2 inches back into the lower pipe and drill a small hole, then use a screw to permanently keep each pipe up in its place. Just weak locks on this pole.

I bought this one. I live in Michigan and they told me to dig four foot deep. I am still confused about how to set this properly, so it's just sitting in my garage for weeks.

Where I live, there isn't really a frost line to worry about. Michigan freezes DEEP. and you have to get below the frost line to your pole does not heave out of the ground as the ground starts to thaw out.

Hi Mike, I just bought my Harbor Freight flagpole the other day and will be installing it this weekend. For the winter months here, a solar light isn't good enough. I installed an L.E.D. Christmas Spot light on the house that plugs in and directed it towards the flag in which lights up the flag and part of my yard. In the instructions, it does call for a light if left flying all night. You are right about lighting the flag at night or take it in each day. Thanks for the great comment Notsosilentmajority1.

When you go to say the pledge always remember place your right hand over your heart before you say the Pledge of Allegiance to America. I pledge of the legions to the flag of the United States of America. And to the republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Amen! When I attended first grade through eighth grade. We were required to say the allegiance to the flag at Marysville Indiana school. I have not forgotten and I still remember a few of my friends who went to school there. The Pledge of Allegiance was printed out on a mirror that hung on the wall above the water fountain. God bless everyone who attended the school God bless everyone who memorize the allegiance to the flag. You are so right about the flag that comes with the pole. I tried to get 6 months out of it, but that didn't happen. I have a question??? On the telescoping flag pole, do those twist locks work real good and when taking the flag down, are they easy to disengage?

No, they work just OK. Some people will put a little sheet metal screw at each section. Mine stay up until we have strong winds and one of the sections will come loose. Maybe that is a good thing so the wind isn't as strong at the ground level. The twist locks are just plastic and you can twist them past where they are suppose to lock and keep twisting until you feel the locking area. I also drop each section about 2 inches down to make it stronger at the joint for the wind.

To tell you the truth, I didn't look. We had a new harbor freight store go in and this is what I bought. I did buy a new replacement flag at the same time that did say Made in America on it. Otherwise the pole came with a nylon flag. Just the same, I know what you are talking about Nicole Firebaugh. God Bless.

If anyone has a problem with their pole section not staying up, get the "pin and loop" from the hardware store and drill the hole thru your pole and be done with it...

You can do that to make it easier to get down but it you just put small metal screws in each section it isn't that noticeable and I leave my flag up and only take it down to change the flag by pulling the pole out of the ground. I am not totally understanding what you are saying. But if you are talking about the ready made flagpole, you can use your imagination a bit, to hang your flag. Tree limbs, wire stretched across two items, Balconies or even tack the flag to the wall. I hope I got it right Levdal Abdelwedoud.

Great video. I live in southern Texas. It is windy every day 12-30 mph. I also fly 2 flags. How do I keep the flags from crawling up the flag pole when the wind is blowing. I do not see any clips or screws to keep the bottom of bottom flag from going up. Any ideas?

Unless you have a heavy duty flag pole, the high winds do make the flag fold up to lessen the wind strength on the pole. As you can see on the car lots there in Texas. They have beads that help hold the flag down yet the size of flag will still climb up the pole to protect the flag and pole.

@@bobthomas9027 The beads are made for the larger flags. They are about 1" in diameter and normally connected with a rope with little space between them. These beads add a little weight to the bottom of the flag and let the flag slip up and down depending on the wind speed.

For the price, they are a nice pole. When you lift each section, drop it back down 2 inches for strength and just snug the locks for each section. The first year, a section of two would slip back down when we had high winds. Now it always stays up and I Never mess with the locks when I need to change my flag. I pull the pole out of the ground and lay the pole over too change the flag. Thanks so much for watching.

This is very true. But the should changed the reading for lighting the flag pole at night. Yes, mine is lit at night with an L.E.D. spot light, but it's hard to figure how to light it, where to get the power to light it and the thieves of the night.

What do you do if the country is flying at half mast?

You have 3 options. 1 is to leave the flag fling high because the pole isn't really that tall. 2 is too unlock the section on the pole and lower your flag to the desired height, but that isn't really right because the pole does not extend above the flag. Also you might have messed up the cheap locking system that holds the sections in place. 3 This pole has two places too hold two flags. Just unclip your flag and clip it in the place of where the second flag could have hung. These are just my thoughts and hope this helped you make up your mind.

Mine is still doing good, but lately the higher winds make the pole shake to much and a section or two will come loose and slide down. I already pulled each section all the way up, then put them back down about 2 inches to give them a little more strength. Now that the poles are starting to slip down, I plan on using metal screws to hole each section in place. I hear a lot of people are having the same problem keeping the flag fling high.

I have this same pole here in India 🇮🇳 I ordered it a while ago and in the winter time I find that the aluminum pole actually shrinks and the plastic peace doesn’t which then you can’t make the pole go up and down and lock it in place. Basically the pole shrinks to much so the plastic peace’s can’t hold it up. That’s a down fall of it but when it’s warmer spring/summer/fall it works wonderfully so I wanted to warn people about that. Love from India 🇮🇳

Thank you for letting others know what problems you have had with the pole. Myself, I don't take mine down at night. I have a light shining on the flag instead. I also think you would wear out the plastic pieces lowering your flag every day. You should look for one that has the ropes and a pully at the top. The upside to that is the small rope can be tied and untied easily once you learn the right knot.

I just moved into this house and needed a flag pole, but was a little broke after the move. . In the town I came from, we didn't have a Harbor Freight store, so I didn't really know much about the store except they had things cheap. Once I got the pole home, I did discover where it was made. Not that happy, yet I already had it, I did go out and buy a flag made in the USA.
