Awesome Video. I would have loved to watch you Prime The Pump....

Your filter should go on the inlet to keep the trash that gets through the input line from stopping the impeller binding up.
@CashJohnston3 жыл бұрын
I’ll try it out. I do have a foot valve with a small screen. Still, stuff seems to get in some times.
@tradingsystemsgroup53122 жыл бұрын
@@CashJohnston Actually, the way you have it is correct. Never put a fine strainer on the suction line since if it clogs up, you'll be cavitating your pump, regularly. The larger diameter screen on the foot valve is correct, just the way you have it.
@joshualand54675 ай бұрын
Wrong, protection of the pump is most important, clean the filter if it needs it. But the filter goes on the intake. Its not a debate.@tradingsystemsgroup5312
@RichardKinch3 жыл бұрын
If you get yourself some spare screens for that filter, then you just trade in the spare in when it needs cleaning. Let the dirty screen dry out, and it is then much easier to clean. I learned this from swimming pool pump strainers, which catch all kinds of sticky debris and hair, and are impossible to clean when wet. Improvise out of a dark sock, or metal foil, something to cover the clear filter bowl and keep it in the dark. Then it won't grow algae, but you can remove the sock momentarily when you need to inspect the filter.

Make a large Box filter then set the foot valve into the box filter.

Does the pump seem to hold a constant pressure while running. I’m planning on tapping it into my house water supply and using its as a booster type pump for my irrigation system.
@CashJohnston2 жыл бұрын
Yes it does give constant pressure. However I am pulling water from a stream, not my house or city water. I can’t say how the pump would work in that situation especially if the water source does not have enough flow. I should try that out however and report back in spring because I get a lot of comments asking about that.

Great set up. Where did you buy the filter?

Search for “Powerfit ap31076” and you should find what I am using or something very close to it. You might also search for “hose screen” or “pump sediment screen/filter”.

Does it hold a prime for days or do you need to prime each time you use?
@CashJohnston2 жыл бұрын
It can hold for days, not two weeks. Got to get everything sealed up. The water in the pump reservoir (prime tank) can leak if it isn’t sealed.
@jamesgfg60432 жыл бұрын
@@CashJohnston will it hold prime if it is moved regularly? Thanks
@CashJohnston2 жыл бұрын
Not sure about if it can hold a prime after being moved around. It would partly depend on the foot valve being used. I have not needed to move this pump. It holds the prime if I pick it up and move it a little bit.

Hey Jim! Sally usually seems to wrangle her way in to those videos. But she was hanging around. She was sneaking and eating the grapes off the vines while we were picking. We have a bunch more to pick that weren’t quite ready.

great video! I bought an irrigation pump similar to yours to try this season for tge first time. I am planning to use it with an IBC tote and a rain barrel. I have a pump hose (1.5") to use with the tote, but I need to hook up a hose to connect with the rainbarrel spigot. I am new to this.. I only have 5/8" garden hoses. Do I need to use 3/4" or 1" hose for the inlet/suction side? I bought a 5/8" braided tubing and 3/4" female garden hose fittings, but I have no idea if this is okay for the pump. I would appreciate your advice..! Thank you.
@CashJohnston3 жыл бұрын
I believe the 5/8” on the inlet will work fine because it is between 1” and 3/4” which is what the pump calls for. If you are using 1.5” on the outlet hose you might have some pressure loss but it won’t damage the pump.

I have a foot valve on the intake to block any larger sediment from getting into the pump. This screen catches smaller debris before it gets to the sprinkler.

Have you connected a garden hose to it Andbpump? I have a wayne PLS 100 toboost my 4040 RO takes incoming Psi tap and boosts at least 50 Pau so can get 100/120 PSI. Have you used as a boosted tap water connection?

Asking because this last freeze may have deformed my Wayne Stainless Steel housing and gaskets. Hope the gasket blew out but the one screw was bent from ice pressure so may try to fix with rtv but looking into other pumps and wondering if this boosts tap pressure. reverse osmosis works off pressure so this pump shows 70 Psi at 0 lift. The HB store has one with dual output model for 144. May get today and use Wayne as backup. Maybe I will post a video to show the psi boost

I like the dual outlet. Some places I clean, like commercial or country homes on a well I tap wash and the Psi using a hose can be 35 45 Psi Vs a residential home on city water at 65 70.
