The best mod you can do is change the supplied pins holding the breaker arm with washers and bolts so the energy can’t shift left or right as you break a bead. THESE BEADS BROKE EASY that’s not often the case. Having used this device often that breaker arm is the first to malfunction.

You are absolutely correct. I have since rewelded the metal on each side and added a bolt where the pins go. It finally gave way. I've done 14 tires on it so far.

Good job! And you saved over $100 doing it yourself.

I've changed 10 tires total so saved a little more than that now.

And how about balancing these tires?
@Mr.Freeze8754 Жыл бұрын
You should get a tire balance as well ,if you going to this your self,, tires stores they mount them and balance them when you buy new tires depending where you buy them at . Good job 👍

Good job :) I bought mine a week ago (tire changer), here in northern Europe they are painted black and also the bead breaker are a bit different. It looks like you use a rag or something in the 2nd tire for a cone..? Also, are you keeping the original bead breaker spade as it is or are you going to add some protection to it..? Cheers 🍻
@rke19872 жыл бұрын
I have went with a totally different set up for bead breaking. I bent the arms in the sides of the breaker. And making adjustments to it and will make a video soon. Also the rag was just to not scratch the aluminum wheel when I tightened it down. I've since drilled holes and use lug studs to hold the rim. As for the spade I don't really need any protection it doesn't really touch the rim.

Do you keep your tire changer mounted there all the time or remove it when not in use?
@rke19872 жыл бұрын
It is removed when not in use. It's bolted down with concrete anchors. I just take my dewalt 3/8 impact and zip them out then store the whole unit in a corner.

Do you happen to have a video on how you modded yours? It looks like it works a lot better than it does out of the box. Nice work!!; 👍

I bought the duckbill mod that's on the description. You just slide it on. You can also but a cone to center the wheel better.

What do you do to balance the wheels

@@rke1987 ok nice cuz I have used the harborfright static bubble balancer . It did ok for me
@albono7802 жыл бұрын
@@rke1987 well you can never beat a machine that dose dynamic balance. But for do it your self at home for the price it’s worth a try . And if the vehicle shakes at highway speeds then you take it to the tire shop . There are places her in the northeast that charge $20 per tire to balance.

You can buy a balancer at harbor freight or take it onto a shop to balance.

What was painful about it? Pretty good for a first time use. Now I can rip a tire off in another 4 min and remount in about 3 min.

How many scratches did you save by doing it yourself? I’m guessing a lot…people at the shop don’t care much about scratching other’s wheels. 🤣🫣
@rke1987 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely at the tire shop they don't care just as long as they are paid.
