The reason the hose popped off is because you didn’t use the small black connectors that through end of hose and connect to the pump. They hold the hose on under pressure. See Part “A” on the parts list.

I just picked this up for my differential fluid change. The smaller hand pumps that come with the fluid rake a long time. This pump should work much faster.

Nice! I tried that too, but my buckets were so old that the plastic broke in my hands and I spilled oil all over the floor. Then that's when I though to use the transfer pump haha!

Hey Everyone! I'd love to hear your method for transferring fluids from one place to another. I found that the Harbor Freight Multi-Use Transfer Pump worked great for adding differential fluid to the car and transferring oils from one container to another. Hello Chuy Kavras! That is a great question. In theory it could be done, but it's not very practical, or efficient. The reason for using the Assenmacher hand pump is because it has the proper fittings to attach to the transmission pan. Because the fitting is metal it will withstand higher temperatures than the Harbor Freight transfer pump. So, in summery, in a very desperate situation, the Harbor freight pump could work, but I would not recommend using it as a service tool to change the transmission fluid for the 722.9 transmission. Hello Jason Gillilan, wow, that's a bummer. I assume you have all the hoses in securely. I would go back to harbor freight and get a new one. Just a heads up. HF won't take back transfer pumps, but I think if you call them and explain your situation they'll let you get a new one.

@@GarageDynamics thanks, ended up just getting oil change. Tried to add some oil between changes and put too much like 1/4" past full mark on dipstick. Looked online got conflicting info about 50/50 of peopoe saying either that's fine or it will damage engine. So yeah since transfer pump didn't do anything just got oil change early to be sure it's accurate major bummer $44.

What locks those hoses in place. Seems they would pop out with enough pressure

Hello J C! They are just held in by friction. So just push them in the hole as far as they will go and that's it. As long as the pressure isn't too strong, then they'll hold up pretty good. The thicker the fluid the slower I would pump. I hope this helps. Cheers!
