You have built a great channel and I enjoy your enthusiasm. I just bought one of those kits but with the regulator from “V power” and had success. The regulator they supply is apparently a higher volume, fixed pressure type and seems to work great from starting to load.

I don't remember, but I prefer to use constant tension clamp instead of the worm screw clamps. The reason I like those has to do with the temperature swings we get.

Thanks for giving me the courage and incentive to convert my generator to propane fuel. Having to deal with gasoline that goes bad is a nuisance. Propane is the way to go even if it doesn't have the same energy potential as gasoline.

Excellent video, I’ve set the same thing up, I’ve been trying for a few days now and have not been able to get my generator started. I believe I now know why, watched another you tube video and the gentleman stated you only open the high pressure regulator a small amount. I believe I know now that I haven’t been opening it far enough after seeing your 3/4 turn open. I’ll find out tomorrow, hopefully it’ll start then, thank you much.

Just wanted to thank you for this info. I bought the same kit and, like you, absolutely no instructions. I had no idea how to use it and how to switch from gas, to propane to NG. Was able to start it on propane but on natural gas, even when priming it, it's doesn't start unless I squirt a little gasoline in the carb first to get it going, and then the NG kicks in. Mine is a pull start only but it might start OK on NG with an electric start.

Thanks for the video and the ideas. I bought a generic converter for my Honda EU2000i which contained a pressure regulator and a demand regulator with a primer button. With a barb fitting screwed into the air filter cover I was able to get it running but just barely; it was getting too much gas.I put a restricting valve in the 3/8" fuel line and I could get it started and running but then there wasn't enough propane to make it run when the load went up. I made a plate with a pipe and jet between the air cleaner and carb that would hopefully act like the venturi and jets in a gasoline carburetor. It would only run if I gently pushed the primer button, so it was running lean.I think if I can match the pressure going into the demand regulator with your variable pressure regulator idea I'll be able to match my gas flow to what is needed. Thanks again for the information. Subscribed.

if you put a regular ball valve between the carb hose and the demand regulator you can regulate the flow set it and then remove the handle.

Search " Natural Gas Propane Tri Fuel Conversion Carburetor Kit for (Insert the name of your generator and the size in Watts)". That will get you real close and then ensure your generator is listed in the description. The key is Generator size and carb mounting pattern.

Hey Mr. I watched your new welder video and I'd have to say looks like you didn't do to terrible with those welds that you made but I noticed that when you were welding your gun angle is directed to straight in you should tilt your gun slightly to a 15° angle so you can always see your arc better. By the way your gonna need 2 bottles of shielding gas if your gonna do any tig or solid core mig with your welder. For tig welding you gonna want to buy a cylinder of straight argon and for mig your gonna want to buy so 75/25 argon mix but you can go with straight CO2 gas for a hotter weld with more spatter. If you want to get into stainless mig you're gonna need to go with a tri-mix shielding gas as any other gas will not do. Anyways I hope you get a lot of good use out of your fancy new welder.

Excellent! Now I have the confidence to try it myself. In a perfect world, what is the PSI the diaphragm valve installed with the new Carb supposed to see? I guessed you tuned your genset by adjusting the regulator until it ran perfect, but what PSI is that/is that supposed to be? Your propane pressure should be approx 11 inches water column (1/2 psi) which is typical of bbq's and most other appliances. With that HP regulator you are pumping way too much propane in there.. Since you did the Carb swap, the KN regulator on the carb takes care of that.. With the snorkel method,, that would be a problem. . Almost any standard fixed pressure BBQ or camp stove model would work fine. OR you can tap into your house line without any regulator other than the one at the tank ..
@LetsFigureThisOut2 жыл бұрын
I tried using a standard BBQ regulator and found it hard to start. When I changed of to the adjustable, I was able to up the flow a bit and get it to start much easier. It didn't take much, but it made a difference.

@@LetsFigureThisOut If you get curious as to exactly what pressure you have a manometer is very easy to build with just a piece of rubber tubing and a small scrap of wood.... The KN regulator on the carb does act as an on-off valve but it also regulates the flow.. I get approx 22 hours of run-time from a 20 Lb bottle of propane with a constant 11 WC

I’ve got the same set up only my generator is a Troy Bilt. However I can’t get it to start. Thought maybe it was because of the Torch spark plug so replaced it today with an NGK BPR6ES, and still nothing. It has an electric start, turns over, but never fires up. Does anyone have any ideas? Generator is 420cc, I’m wondering if maybe it’s not turning over fast enough to create a strong enough vacuum to open the valve to pull in the propane. Is that a possibility, and if it is, what should/do I do next? Any help/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Most dual/trifuel generator carbs like about 9-13 inches of water column pressure. Find a 9-13 WC regulator and they need volume so use atleast 3/8th hose shorter than 10 ft and you should be GTG. 9-13 WC pressure is 1/2 to 1 psi.

Mine does fine in both conditions. I have lines marked on my valve for starting and running. You may have a vacuum leak. Spray some carb or brake cleaner around the base to see if anything changes. Also look to see if there are any uncapped vacuum ports.

Maybe I can pick your brain as I’m at a lost here. Got the same type setup, I’ve tried everything I can think of and it still won’t start. I can spray starting fluid in the carb and it fires right up, however when I connect my propane hose and try starting it, nothing, it just turns over and over and does nada. Any suggestions as too what I should/could try? Do you choke it when trying to start on propane? Do you think it could be the unit itself or a bad HP hose? Has anyone else got any suggestions or had a problem like this. Any help is surely appreciated. Thx all.
@LetsFigureThisOut Жыл бұрын
Sounds like it is not getting enough fuel. When I tried the non-adjustable regulator it had problems. The extra bit of fuel seems to make the difference. Yes I do use the choke to get it running. Also make sure the gasoline valve is closed. If the gasoline tank is empty, it could suck air through that line and give a too lean condition.
