Nice review, I have both . I like the locking feature . I soak mine in oil and see a few air bubbles as the oil enters the gear.

I picked up the 1/2 drive a couple years ago and have been using it to break lug nuts with no issues.

Thank you it some people have better luck with these than others

Works great to spin a subaru engine over for timing belts or component testing such as crank and cam position sensors

I got the 1/2"-drive unit. Nice to use for motor and transmission mount bolts. Lifetime warranty, can't beat it.

Yes these work out okay the ratchet mechanism isn't the strongest and I've run into some of the issues other people commented on with it not wanting to cooperate but generally it's okay

You can change the head of the 3/8 breaking bar for the flexible budy 3/8 ratchet and fits perfect 👌
@scrambler350 Жыл бұрын
Picked up both of these with the 25% off coupon during the July 4th weekend - for the price I couldn't pass them up - throwing the 3/8" one in my car and the 1/2" in my truck with a socket to fit their lug nuts. These will beat the heck out of the standard lug wrench if I'm ever stuck changing a flat on the side of the road!

I keep one in the car for lug nuts great tool
@twiz87896 жыл бұрын
These would be good for lug nuts, as the distance of the head along with a socket would give you the length you need to clear the rim and no extension is needed

Yes indeed

I think I’ll stick with the old standard cross shaped lug nut remover. Once you break the nut with your foot then you just spin the handle.

I've had a lot of difficulty with mine. The reversing mechanism seems to easily jam up and reverse itself. I have yet to break one. But I don't go too hard with them

Oh I’ve broken a 1/2” drive one on lugbolts torqued to 100ft lbs. 🙃 when it broke I saw the metal of the anvil/gear, and the pawls that are supposed to hold the leverage. I’ve since realized that I basically bought myself 2 decent handles. Maybe I’ll put together a ratchet on them. If I don’t do that, hopefully I can just swap them out for some regular breaker bars someday. It’s easy enough to break them again if I needed to.

Mine broke too lol it's a good handle for a flex head ratchet tho
@brucetec65974 жыл бұрын
I use mine at work every day. The metal in good but the failure point in the ratchet head. The gears tend to break on them. But it does have Lifetime warranty so I'm not complaining for the price. I work mines pretty hard too.

I broke my 3/8 inch head. Is there just a replacement part?? I love the ratcheting capabilities.

Replying to my own message, I actually just walk out of harbor freight I was about to buy a new one, She reminded me that there is a lifetime warranty on it. So I didn't purchase the new one I just have to bring back the old One and replace

My 3/8th ratchet worked as a breaker bar when i put a 24mm wrench on the end and it does fine, so i think this will work for me

My 3/8 snapped right away. My ratchets are stronger. Putting a flex head on the handle is good tho
@rbhe35711 ай бұрын
My 3/8 just died a violent death. Removing the very last lug nut on an F350 rotation job it...well, it exploded. It must have been old and fatigued because I wasnt even leaning on it like I have before. Oh well. At least theyre cheap.

Yes I remember they were cheap considering what they are it explains the hit-and-miss nature of people's experience with these breaker bars

@Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this Almost all Japanese motorcycles use 17mm oil drain plugs. I used one three times today.

My 93 subaru legacy had a 17 mm dran plug.
@allazar326 жыл бұрын
The 3/8 couldn't stand up to loosening a drain plug that someone over tightened sheared the teeth right off

Yes I have been reading the hit-and-miss nature of these breaker bars and their reliability.

Must have gotten a crap unit. I have been using both my 3/8 & 1/2 breakee loose stuck & rusty bolts / nuts. Not one them has failed. They have never failed to get them loose. Nice part is the life time warranty? Yeah making the trip takes up some time? Sucks but it's better then having to ship them off for warranty

Mines a little different, I bought it at O'Reilly's and it's held up fine but I'm sure I could break it if I really, really tried hard. Some people could F up a locomotive with a rubber hammer.
