Good job my man. I used case hardened bolts. My bench I put on heavy duty casters, so I wasn't restricted to space. But I'm not knocking you,I admire your work. Sincerely

Just invested in the Doyle 5" (the red painted one) for better quality, but same three holes. Thank you.

Pro tip: Prior to mounting a vise, cover your workbench with a sheet of Masonite, smooth side up. Makes it so easy to clean up and you don't risk getting splinters.

Great video. The link for your workbench build is private, do you have another video for it?

What are the two small horizontal metal rods on the side of the bench vise used for?
@BackyardMaineАй бұрын
The are used to lock and unlock the swivel function of the vise so it can be rotated around as needed.

You mounted the vise too far away from the edge of the workbench. The fixed jaw should be located beyond the edge of the workbench.

This location works perfect for me. I can spin it sideways and work off the side as well. I'll never use it where I need something coming up at an angle from the floor.

So two of the anchor points are screwed into the wood and one is pass-thru bolt? I just bought an HF 6” swivel but can’t figure how to get it on the corner since my workbench doesn’t have overhangs. Maybe do one or two but not all three as pass-thru bolts.
@BackyardMaine2 жыл бұрын
I would have lagged all three if I could have. I’m sure you’ll be fine either way.

What did you use for the sharp edges? What kind of attachment for the Dremel

It was a little grinding wheel

What size through bolt and lag bolt did you use? Also, what size drill bit did you use for the holes?
@BackyardMaineАй бұрын
I used 5/16" through bolts and lag. With the lag bolt, I pre drilled an 1/8" hole. For the through bolts I drilled 5/16" holes.

Which video is the overhead bench light? Going through all of this now.

I never ended up posting the video of the power and lights. Sorry. You can see what I did in some of my other videos since I'm using that space as my working studio.

@@BackyardMaine Thanks. Have a 4 ft LED. Everything I've read says to mount it 5.5 to 6 ft above the work surface. Have pegboard galore.
@BackyardMaine Жыл бұрын
@@34dawgsgo I mounted a 4 ft LED over my bench as well. I mounted it right to the ceiling probably about 5 ft above the bench. It lights up everything well.
