The fuel can must have been designed by a lawyer. I see your diesel has the color indicating no tax. Obviously this thwarts the safety features but they were dramatically overkill.

What the EPA and the manufacturers don't seem to realize is this: The harder you make it for the user to deal with hazardous liquids, the greater the danger

Good video. The only nozzle that ever worked for me (and still does, after 10 years) reliably was the "enviro-flow" nozzle, after modifications. Of course, the EPA, in its usual wisdom, had it banned! Idiots.

I really appreciate how you actually went through the process to show how to fix the mechanism so it actually works -- although the sarcasm of "just get yourself one of these now-illegal nozzles" is funny, real information (like yours) is much more helpful!

great information if people would just take the plug handle cord plug in all the way it would be protected do you agree.and use the handle to pull it out

How about switching the breaker off on the circuit you are working on? It seems like a common-sense safety precaution, no matter how it's wired.

Hours... it took me hours of monkeying to try and figure this out. I have knob and tube wiring and we were redoing the basement with a 3 way switch for the lighting. It was a good thing that i labeled each wire and the original switches. I identified neutral and hot and wired it like it should be. I then went to the other switch and what i had initially thought was hot and neutral were reversed. After hours of trying to get it wired i put the old switches back in... got the circuit to work like it used to and then replaced them with new dimable switches and wired them the same way the old switches were wired. Thankfully i wont have to worry much about the hot light when it is off because the wires are all in a junction box with a low voltage transformer which powers the lowvoltage LED puck lights.

Yikes. I encountered ways that switched the neutral, but not one of these crazy circuits.

Good and adequate tips for safety concerns (gloves/safety glasses) as it’s sometimes overlooked. The equipment used to clean the terminals (battery cleaner bristle and metal toothbrush) was also an effective cleaning tool but not sure why a Brake cleaner was used … CRC makes a battery cleaner solution so I would use that instead but comments here includes baking soda, Coca Cola and water (hot) that are also good alternatives to clean the terminals. Thanks for the video.

Why do Americans call a 2-way switch a 3-way? Do they call a single switch installation 2-way?

Finally, an answer to why I always got zapped as a little kid, visiting my grandparent's 1940s vintage home in south suburban Chicagoland. Usually happened when getting out of the bath and flipping the switch with a wet hand. I bought a house in 2011 and had a lighting circuit that was wired Chicago style. Had it fixed immediately. Frankly, I'm surprised the inspector passed it but I live in AZ where building and zoning regulations are just a serving suggestion.

I've always installed outlets with the ground down. That way when a person is plugging in a device with a transformer and the outlet is polarized, said transformer is plugged in an hanging down, towards the floor, and not up towards the ceiling.

I'd love opinions on this -- can ANYONE explain why the simplest solution to the vapor venting problem was not implemented by a simple spring-loaded vent valve where the vent would open INWARD to permit venting when pouring the gas, but would pull SHUT when the gas was not being poured? In this manner, the pour spout would remain as it always was, and the spillage problem that's inherent in ALL these newfangled contraptions would have been avoided. It's CLEAR to me that such a solution must have been considered, since it's so obvious, but I've never seen one installed. What am I missing?

I was always told this was a "California 3-way" and all the literature I read in school also refered to it as such. Also, I have heard it called a neutral switched 3-way. Good demo to explain how it actually works! Ive never thought about it ive always just fixed them or rewired them when i see them.

Always show the correct/safe wiring first in order to give a baseline reference to the student. You don’t want the student to have the Chicago method is the reference method.

The worst offenders are the w/r gfci outlets... I have never replaced so many NEW gfci outlets installed within 2 yrs in my career ,thinking of wiring for gfci breakers in the future, moisture and electronics never last .. feels like a money grab from manufactures.

When I first began in the early 80's I had to remove tube & wire from an old house & was amazed at the absurdity of how that place was wired- it seemed like there should have been way more fires from that type of system & yet it wasn't so bad that an impetus was generated to ban that stuff outright... CODE upgraded eventually so that you could not install that system any longer but did not require people to remove it unless/until there was an upgrade... there are still millions of homes across the USA that have that wire still functioning today... scary stuff!

Thanks for this. My old house in California had some confusing 3-way that I could never quite figure out. I suspect it was this. It was also connected with fabric-sheathed wire and I ended up disconnecting it and pulling modern wire (14/3 NM) to replace it all. More work in the end but probably the right move in the long run.
