First time seeing this. My favorite show on tv at the time. Had a Fireball XL5 toy. Damn I should've kept it. Think it was lost when my parents moved us to a new home.

Back in the day, we were going through very hard times, and i could only gaze with desire on one of the xl5 models on display at a store. It was large and awesome.
@redpillcommando Жыл бұрын
Dan Clark, I was just thinking the same thing. I had the Fireball XL5 toy that launched with a slingshot, then it would deploy a parachute. I wish I still had it. That and my Captain McCauley space helmet. They are probably in a landfill somewhere.

Very nice. The Subterrains are realistically menacing. That's some color palette on their home world; very austere and coldly beautiful.
@HarborsidePressLLC5 жыл бұрын
Again thank you for the kind words for this episode. Overall the lighting was a bit dark and played havoc with the exaggerated features of the XL5 characters. As a one person studio I treat each episode as a learning experience.

@@HarborsidePressLLC It works well to the advantage of the story. I understand that it's on-the-job training as you progress through these episodes. I especially like the early version of Lt. Ninety's hairstyle though I believe that he would have been drummed out of Space Patrol for a non-regulation haircut.

Well done episode. Later episodes have evolved to use the rocket sled just like the original FIreball XL5 does.

Thank you for comment; it is very much appreciated. This episode took me about 11 months to complete; the first four months alone were spent creating sets, characters and uniforms. The software I was using also had an upgrade and had to relearn/redo a lot of what I had done before. Being a 1 person operation, my goal is to produce 3 to 4 episodes a year.

In the original, Steve has a gun hidden under the seat of his scooter and uses that. I used to have a fireball toy that when you slammed its rear, Fireball junior was fired away from the main body. Innocent days.

Thank you for watching and commenting. I too had a Fireball XL5 toy rocket was I was 4 or 5 years old. Mine I think fired missiles from the main body, and Fireball Jr detached.

Again, well done. It was a nice idea to have Steve remote control the hover scooter to shoot the aliens instead of him taking a Ray gun out of the compartment as in the original. The space helmet oxygen pill was a nice idea too though they would still die in about a minute as they're not wearing pressurised suits.
@HarborsidePressLLC6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and the positive comment. It is appreciated. Your right about the oxygen pills. I'm assuming in the original production they didn't want to have cumbersome space helmets on the marionettes.

John Bluthal (Frank Pickle in the Vicar of Dibley) is the original voices of Commander Zero and the Subterrean leader.

John Bluthal has had along career as a character and voice actor going back to the 1950's on TV and in films. John was born in Poland before the war and was a child refuge to England. He's most usually associated with being a regular comedy sketch character actor alongside Spike Milligan from the 1960's onwards. You'll spot him in anything Spike created for TV especially the Q series of sketch shows.

It really follows the original but for a few details: XL5 launched on a rocket sled on rails and not a runway with wheels and the scooters are now juggernauts. When I watched this as a kid I remember that I used to get excited when it started "OK Venus". This is more faithful than the remakes of Capt Scarlet or Thunderbirds.

Thank you so much for watching and the positive comment. I admit I did take creative license with XL5's takeoff. My reasoning is I felt a future space force would need to be more mobile.

This obviously took place after the Zombie Apocalypse of 2062, loved this show as a kid, I have all the boxed sets for Supercar,(1960)Fireball XL5,(1962) Stingray(1964)Thunderbirds(1966)& Captain Scarlet(1967). Since when did Commander Zero become a woman? That zombie face resembles more of the puppet that was his wife in the original series or was that your attempt at humor? If it was I didn't find it funny. Robert looks like a potable batting cage. Since my original comment on Part 1 I have toned down a little bit but you should've stuck to the original a bit more, Fireball took off on a ramp like the first cruise missiles of WW2 which was Gerry Anderson's intent, I know that because I listened to his commentary on Fireball. I must say however I did like what you did with the cockpit, instruments etc...but those frogs legs you gave Venus is almost as bad as her zombie like face. VENUS is supposed to be beautiful, that's why she was named VENUS! Take it from a member of FANDERSON and the number 1 fan of Supermarionation in this country, if ya plan on doing more of these, please for heavens sake make these people look decent. Maybe after you make these desperately needed improvements, "Starving Artists" may not have to starve. Don't be a tootie!

watched it again...my only helpful comments would be tone down the arm movements of the characters a little...and you need to simplify their faces ...at the moment they look a little scary ...you are putting too much effort into this to let these two things let you down....also as ive said before Gerry Anderson brought out many audio only mini records...these are what you should be trying to look into giving life to...three thunderbirds ones were done recently as you must know...the blu ray set being called thunderbirds 1965....are you based in the uk or America? ...I work in blender and 2d animation

Commander zero does not look at all convincing, he is far to young looking as is prof mattic. Don't forget the eyebrows, you really need to do a pastiche of those. But thanks for the rework.

Thank you for watching and commenting. You might want to check out the reworks of Episode 2 "Flight to Danger" and Episode 3 "The Granatoid Tanks". The lighting is improved in both (hence characters look less like crack addicts). Both CMDR Zero and Lt. I can't thank you enough for the glowing review of Fireball XL5 reanimated. I do love the original show and it bothered me that many would never watch it, because it was in black & white.
