When Eliota said that people in Samoa forgive easily, I realised that there are no real consequences in Samoa. Even legally; if you're convicted of murder in Samoa they can still let you out for a weekend. You are shamed if you don't forgive the other person. People expect to be forgiven and then the relationship to go back to normal.

great show guys, yes the institutionalised corruption and manipulation runs deep, even with a change of government. Much of the old regime remains, and the old mentalities that are there to protect people in power. A bit like when the Rebels defeated the Empire in Star Wars, but it took many years to dismantle the Imperial institutions that remained loyal to the old regime. I guess when people have benefited from a system for so long, there is a fear of change and losing those privileges. Embedded in culture.

Just an insight as someone that reside here in Samoa: most of FAST are all ex HRPP members including La’auli too. This narrative that La’auli is a saviour was created by the diaspora. La’auli too isn’t exempt from having checkered in business and mismanagement of funds here in Samoa. I agree that HRPP is no better, but both of these parties are the same. The victims here are the people, so many promises FAST have made and yet their term is almost up and their party is now divided into factions. We need stability and to pass through legislation for the people.
