I've been on a derby video binge the last week or so, mostly thanks to Test Drive: Eve of Destruction and the only derby I ever went to. It was the end of my senior year of high school; June 1st, 2013 in a small backwoods New York village called Cuba. Had over 60 cars come from all over NY, PA, and Canada. Most of my classmates were on the senior trip, and I made the choice to stay, and a good choice to say the least.

Hey that's alright, as long as you had fun. I ran this Honda one time, solid front end but when I got hit, the bumper didn't move and the motor mount broke off the block and I was done in 5 minutes.

There is one the 25th of November at Mildenhall. Which is in Suffolk in England. The last meeting i went to was Mildenhall Steamer Memorial 2012 search for it the video is around 11 mins 45 seconds (Not my video though)

they know what there doing. you always try to hit with your rear end to another cars front end. if you use your front, you hit the other guys front at an angle so as do more damge to his engine and cooling system etc than yours.

which are the better derbies, front wheel or real wheel drive? if a derby has mixed front and real wheel drive, which has advantage?

+George W Obama they can both be entertaining...but only time you will get them mixed is if there is a rear wheel drive compact(4 & 6 cylinder in most places)...but in that case the rear wheel drives normally have the advantage because on a front wheel drive your steer tires are also your drive tires...so if you lose your front tires on a front wheel drive car you are fucked...you cant move or steer...with a rear wheel drive you can steer somewhat and still move if you lose your front tires

back in the day, circa 1970's, if memory serves me , derby drivers would drive backwards into their opponents front to damage oppenyd radiator , etc. today it seems everyone attacks forward. I remember as a kid watching demolition derbys from Islip New York(state) when they had them broadcast on "wide world of sports" saturday sports program. they covered all sorts of sports including those crazy russians with those spikes instead of tires in ice track motorcyle racing. is Wide World of Sports still on tv ?(WAS ON ABC BACK THEN) do they allow demo derby drivers to put steel plates in the front of the cars now ? i'm a car under the hood dummy and would be grateful for some answers. thanks.
