Hi Zak Those two mules are a treat to watch skid logs you have done a great job with them. In Canada we do a lot of ground skidding and don't usually see a cart and no mules to speak of. On heavy loads I would use a four foot sleigh with about ten inches of clearance. It works good summer or winter. I also have used a car hood turned upside down. An old VW hood works the best as it was shaped like a sled well turned up at the front. I reinforced a hole in the front I cut and passed a chain to the log. It is surprising how much easier it makes a log draw. Great videos keep them coming. Cheers Ron

Thanks for sharing the video Zach. Scared me when you went down. I'm sure it scared you for a second also. Yes it is important that they listen to you. Kate and Alice are doing great for a three year old team. But the more you work them the better they are going to be. Just like anything else. Good that you have Mr Summers to help you and give you some pointers. The older generation can teach us a lot. My Grandpa was like that too. Don't let get by with not listening or doing what you want them to do. Stay safe out there working.

I never here of them called grabs! lol snake dogs or log dogs and a dog hammer what we all was called them here in southeast ky I've hammer a lot snake dogs years ago we all was run our mule on auto pilot lol we never dove them just turn lose let go that way grandpa broke them but I got say you got good mules they are broke good doing good job with them! It been 25 years since work a mule most time the mule we used would work all day with you just to get a chance to kick your head off lol I'm 45 now last mule I work I was 20 years old! I traded to 240 Timberjake and 450 Jon deere.good videos love our channel keep up good work ❤

Questions your right hand mule carries your log dogs. Have you had the dogs chafed the shoulder of your animal?

No it’s never been a problem. It hangs on the hames so it doesn’t lay exactly on them. And also I keep my team nice and slow. So there is not a lot of movement there anyway. Thanks for the question, and also for watching! Take care

@@benbaker989some mills will pay a little more or less here and there. Markets vary across the country. But gum is just low grade wood and only good for ties. It warps and stuff when you try and saw it for lumber. So it’s not much count really. It does alright for ties.
