Hard water scale removal trick that works! Remove scale from gelcoat on your boat or PWC.

The best way to remove hard water scale from gelcoat is probably as hotly debated as who makes the best oil filter.
I'm trying an idea I just learned about, we'll see if it can make the abandoned wr3gp look any better, it has a lot of very bad scale buildup that is impervious to anything I've tried to remove it.

I'm beyond impressed with how well it worked! If your machines sat in the water and got that nasty scum on them, this should take it off real nicely.

Nice work and what a great solution! I could be wrong, but I think the SMC Yamahas including the venerable WR3 were all painted and not gel coated.

You are absolutely correct. I'm not sure where my brain was, Yamaha has always painted their machines. At least all of them that I've worked on, totally slipped my mind!

oxolic acid works pretty good also. very reasonably priced and powder form so very easy to store.

I was shocked, I'm not sure how good of an idea it is if the gelcoat was perfect, but on an old scaly beat up machine like this one it sure made it look a ton better!

I agree, it doesn't seem like it damaged the gelcoat at all, but it sure dissolved the scale.

@@trythistv Thats fantastic! That scale really welds itself to hulls. I like how you went with the buffer and not a scotchbrite pad first. Does it say on the bottle what to keep it away from?

@@trythistv I think youtube has changed it somehow. It seems like its just turned off for newer videos. It may be some attribute in the create video section.
