Hey Mike This Shoulder Bump technique was first showed to me by my grandpa who got me into boxing and it's a great dirty boxing technique to smother strikes on the way to the clinch as you demonstrated. As a kid every time I'd try to blitz my grandpa he'd laugh, philly shell and shoulder bump to smother me which was incredibly frustrating. I always wondered what the counter to the Shoulder Bump was but sadly my grandpa passed away unexpectedly before I could fully understand how to deal with it. After his passing my grandma passed me his boxing diary which I had never seen before and in it among all the other techniques written down, he wrote two lines about how to counter this technique: "Pivot quarter turn out and then JUST GO TO THE BODY BRO"

My oldest is going to love that bump to spinning elbow.

What I used t teach and use for shorter to average height was a variation of Floyd Patterson peek a boo style. It involves a lot of side to side up and down head movements. The arms are closer to the body but not overly compressed. What I like about it is your very hard to hit they may get some ineffective forehead shots in but your legs can compress and it leads to tremendous power in hooks and attacks to the body. Mike Tyson in his younger days was a master of it that I assume was taught to him by Gus and tony atlas. Shoulder movement and blocking is great with longer arms and your trying to keep away. That’s why it is called the sweet science there are so many different ways to do something you have to pick and choose what fits your body build, your temperament and style

Made a video on this myself from an SD perspective once but your video is funnier and glossier and better in general...damn! But yes, for me this is a very important defensive manoeuvre for SD, a reactive shell against a closing attacker and as a range crashing body check that smothers a puncher. I much prefer it to concepts like spike elbow because you get a kinetic control as well as a crash. I've seen the bump and right uppercut as a street KO before too, very effective.

you start with a short sprint followed by the most powerful left you can throw from southpaw, after that hit or your opponent ducks out of the way you are in grappling range and can dispense shoulder justice from the clinch. HOLY SHIT WHAT WAS THAT FIGHT HE DIDN'T EVEN MESS HIS HAIR

Sadly framing in Boxing is misunderstood, one of the most underrated things about Ronda Rousey was how she exploited all of the UFC fighters for throwing over hand rights with hangers (extend left arm in between the space of the overhand and the head in order to establish a frame and collar tie) and transitioned right into the clinch.

Love your videos, funny and educational. But on this video, you come in after a left jab to stun/distract your opponent. Then, as you come in to close the gap wouldn't it be better to bring your left hand up to guard the head and upper body rather than protect the rib cage? I see you say that as you come in,you don't want to leave your head expsoed, but watching the videos that is exactly what you do. Not judging, just an analysis of fighting which I always do watching videos.
