The sheep farm outside the wall actually makes a lot of sense. In walled villages, it was common for larger farms for both crops and herds were outside the wall while the core living structures and businesses were inside the wall for defense. Walls take a lot of work and building something large enough to contain the size of farm necessary to feed a village was often resource prohibitive.

Gem…those trapdoors are going to be flipping like crazy whenever you use the basalt generator. Also, since part of the lore with the sheep is that they’re using the wool to keep warm with clothes, they’d also need string to put it together if you wanted to incorporate the spider spawner!

Well, if Minecraft was at least a bit realistic, they would get the string from the wool instead of getting it from huge spiders that are trying to kill you (kind of stupid from Minecraft that wool -> string isn't possible in vanilla). So I don't know if it actually makes that much sense.

Love waking up to a Gem video! I was a little unsure of the shepherd’s house being outside the wall, but then I thought of how medieval towns were usually built, and it was pretty normal for the farms and stuff to be outside the city walls, and most of the housing and markets and production to be on the inside!

I love this series so much! Thank you gem for making this chill series. Have a good day! Also did a little lore thing, hope you don’t mind :> The haggard traveler has been doing well since the village medic picked her up, she took up residence in the old house at the edge. It’s been a few moon cycles since then and in that time she has helped us rebuild our walls from last seasons heavy snows. She seemed determined to help, even while slightly injured, it’s as though she’s running from something. I find the traveler suspicious but cannot deny her contributions to our village. Including her work on the walls she has repaired the shepherds hut, built a coal building allowing the coal production to expand; now every house has no worry over how to heat their homes. She has also started to help the weaver, battling the mammoth spiders below to pull more of the important thread we use to make our clothes. The traveler is suspicious and clearly has her own plans, I can only hope they do not bring destruction to our village. She says to call her Gem.

I’m not sure if you’ve already done this but if you haven’t I suggest doing it. A comment about how to make the sheep farms a little more realistic (optional): Sheep typically graze on large amounts of land, especially in cold areas where the grass may not grow back as fast. To counter this, more land is needed to feed the sheep when compared to lush green fields. Also, sheep are typically rotated from pasture to pasture when the grass is trimmed. To translate this into Minecraft terms, make the sheep pen bigger again and have it sprawling across that section of land with gates and walls dividing up the pastures. It will also have the benefit of allowing you to collect wool quite quickly, as you can sheer them, let them eat all the grass then sheer them again and move them to the next field, repeating until the required amount of wool has been obtained.

Magma Cube spawners are S tier! They are the only way to reliably get a large amount of Frog Lights.
@TJStellmach
@TJStellmach 5 ай бұрын
In principle you can farm magma cubes in basalt deltas biomes, but (outside of special cases like skyblock) getting decent rates takes a huge amount of spawn proofing work.
@panda_pls
@panda_pls 5 ай бұрын
@@TJStellmach You also have to keep in mind that Ghasts also spawn in Basalt Deltas. So you have to stop them. And you have to not only protect the frogs from any potential harm, you also have to find a way to get Magma Cubes to split, so they can be eaten. Easiest way in my opinion is have them see you and jump into a hole with powdered snow. If it was just about killing magma cubes, the spawners wouldn't be needed. But because you need the frogs to eat them, I will gladly put the spawner in S tier!

If you're on Java, you can build a farm on the Nether roof above a Basalt Delta biome. AFK spot above. Avomance has a great one. But yeah, a spawner is also a great option.

The spider farms also kinda fit the lord or story of this village though. Since there are a couple “spider dens” the village can also make textiles from farming spiders. This in addition to the wool farmed from sheep makes a perfect textile based export. Maybe the villagers have made a spider silk wool textile that is a perfect combination of the two materials. 🤷‍♂️ This is such a good series idea. It’s been very enjoyable to watch. 👍
