Yes I have done this…i didn’t know it was called sun scald. Thanks for sharing that! I just put oregano and comfrey today. They’re herbs so I’m expecting them to be more tolerant but we’ll see!! 😊👍❤️and yesss the carrying them in and out is a chore! But so worth it!

I've been the victim of sun scald. I didn't know any better and learned a lesson the hard way. Carrying them in & out is part of the gardeners workout! Cheers Tammy!

We have some stuff hardening off here. I picked up a small greenhouse and I’m really impressed. Our grow tent is pretty packed full. Can’t wait to be planting outside and clear up the space in the kitchen. Sorry I’m so late on this. I’m not getting notifications for a few of you. Starting from seed is crazy time-consuming but, so worth it. Have a great weekend Rich and Holly. 🌱💚

I agree about the time consuming but worth it. So inexpensive versus buying plants. I need a greenhouse, but it needs to be made of plexiglass (or something strong). We've had so much wind that a cheap greenhouse wouldn't survive. Can't wait to see all that you have planted. Cheers Jen!

@@TheOldSwedesFarm yes, you folks would need a very stable greenhouse with the weather you get there. Hopefully this little one stands up for a few seasons. We will be eventually building a large one on the property. 🍻

Where I live in texas we get some nice days during the winter just before spring planting time. Ive always taken my plants out during these mild days. I suppose I was hardening them but I was just trying to do is expose them to a better light than where I had them started. I was able to finally get Cabbage from seeds ths year and picked my first cabbage yesterday.

The only thing I start in the spring is tomatoes peppers and eggplants. Those get set out on the porch to harden off after they get up and going, and that's where they stay unless we are to get a night of chilly weather. Everything else is direct sown, which needs no hardening off. Good info Rich.

You've got two seasons worth of growing versus us! I wanted to get the cabbage out quick to take advantage of our cool weather. I bet it's 80 down there already. It'll be fun to watch your garden explode. You've got such an advantage over us. Have a great week Gwen!

@@TheOldSwedesFarm We have had a few days that were 80s already. In reality we can pretty much grow year round. Depending on season. Spring and summer usually have some leftover winter things still coming in until the heat arrives. Then I can sometimes plant three crops like corn, peas, sometime planting one or the other twice. Then come fall, it's time for green beans, because they will not set pods after temps reach 85 degrees. Then in October/November it's time to get things like brassicas, carrots, lettuce, swiss chard etc. in the ground.

Maybe I’m just lucky, I never harden them off anymore. I’ve done it before, but never notice a difference. Perhaps just because our spring is mild and maybe a little luck. We probably have the benefit of not much wind and the tennis mild in spring.
