Duchess is a good girl. I am a bit concerned about using her to do barrel racing......she isn't a spring chicken and barrels require totally sound all the way around. I once bought a beauty, older like Duchess and she had done some barrel racing in her life. She was ok most ot the time as I just rode mountain trails, but sometimes she was stiff in the rear, so vet said that barrel horses often get stiff as they age. I just hope these people know what they are doing and that Duchess doesn't get a job that is too much for her at her age.

This video was a little tough to get through 😢. Duchess, Lilly, and Lil all gone 😢. Very sad, but I know they are all going to great homes (cause you guys always make sure your horses go to good people) but Im sure gonna miss them 😢 But thats the life, I know, cause I bred, raised, showed, and eventually sold a lot of quarter paints. I don't understand why neither of the folks who picked up horses had any hay bags in the trailers. Those horses had long trips ahead of them without hay to keep them occupied.

🤔 interesting to see how those four horses reacted to their move 😳 Duchess with very sad eyes like she knew but accepting like “such is life”. She will definitely be fine with that girl in that family. - Lilly with a strong protest after realizing the different sound of that trailer moving to a different place while Lil seemed to be quite calm together with her mom. - The new one Peppy didn’t look happy at all but will surely adapt within a short time together with Mickey as a buddy and the others after that long ride from Florida. This has been the most touching video to me so far btw 😊 Horses do express a lot through their eyes and faces!

I feel badly for Duchess! She knew what was going on! You could see it in her eyes and ears! I wish she had hay in the trailer to eat and help her adjust. Especially, since she had such a long ride to her new home. I hope her new owners know how to care for her properly. I am concerned after I heard that she isn’t only for their one grandchild. She isn’t a rental horse! Having 5 kids ride her is a lot! Sorry if I seem negative. I’m thinking how Duchess would be treated and feel. I’m wondering if you might have some of your own concerns because you mentioned that they could send Duchess back multiple times. What if you decide you want Duchess back!? The agreement should be either way, in my opinion.

I think Dutchess will be ok. 5 little boys and a 12 year old girl to be loved by is going to be awesome for her. I dont think she will be riden to hard. A beginner at barrels doesn't run near as hard as someone that has been doing it for years. Peppy is a pretty girl. Good luck with her.

selling Duchess was hard, but you have to do what is best for your family and for the horse. Plus now you have more hay for all those rescue horses that seem to somehow end up at your farm.

Life is all about new connections and sad separations. Your new emotions tell me of your love for the horses. That it just isn’t business I think the way you handled your promise for a horse was very wise. You know she’s going to a good home and duchess will come back to you if they want to get rid of her. But I’m sure Duchess’s is going to have quite a weather shock it gets cold in duchene.

Ima survivor sanctuary has a filly that was dropped off at their gate , they have very very little horse experience and Rita is lot more energetic and unmannered than their two old geldings are, if you could give them some help it would be awesome.
