Hardin being unbearably cringe in After 5

Hardin is... quite a character in After 5. How is it that he never, in any of the After movies, seems to really have any character development? Hardin has just been the same Hardin since the first After movie. There were a lot of Hardin cringe scenes and I made some (hopefully) funny meme edits/commentary on the movie.
