I might be in the minority here, but my musical background is in metalcore/deathcore/pop punk/indie. So sometimes I feel like I'm in a Spanish class learning by ear. But I've picked up so much good hardcore music from this podcast. I appreciate the work you boys do.

Same here on all fronts dude. After being more so into rock and metal for a while, the styles you mentioned also introduced me to hardcore (especially metalcore). Hatebreed, ADTR, and Stick To Your Guns were the earliest bands I remember getting into that opened the door for me to get into more hardcore stuff and this pod has been a key player in further broadening my horizons
@Slamyourclam

@Joseph Bastidas yeah I took the natural trajectory nu-metal (back in the early 2000s) to metalcore AILD, Killswitch etc by the time I was in 8th grade. Wasn't until high school that I grew from that into deathcore, pop punk, indie etc, and what I considered hardcore for years. (Graduated 09) And that bracket was Stick To Your Guns, Liferuiner, Recon, Counterparts, The Ghost Inside, Hundredth, early Being As An Ocean, etc. Little did I know that almost all of that stuff leans more metal than core.

Black Breath that sick pick. Was able to catch a Sabertooth Zombie show with my guy Ace (guitarist of BB) when I was visiting Seattle few weeks ago and the throwback vibes were real. Got a lot of those from this upload. Disgrace!!! Those couple shows on the Twitching Tongues/Ill Intent tour 2012, what a time. Great episode!

Broooo no wayyyyy Colin hearing you reference my hometown of Simi was crazy! 805 all day homie. I grew up there all my life and honestly if I knew growing up that a band like twitching tongues or gods hate would play in our hometown...you have no idea lol we always had pulley and strung out as our local homegrowns but no legit hxc action to speak of really..idk I just really felt some love hear you mention Simi Valley...the ironic part Colin? I two months ago moved to Hartford, probably really close to YOUR hometown

Went to The Heist in 04' at Darien Sportsplex in the burbs of Chicago- my buddy and I all of 14-15 years old. I stayed off to the side during The Killer sensing danger... he went into the pit and got knocked out cold, some big dude, good Samaritan really, slung him over his shoulder and carried him out of the pit like it was an evacuation from a warzone. Then Dead to Fall came on and tore the house down. Good times, brotherhood.

The fest Bo is referring to was called "Clevo Fest" and had three dates some time in 2004 iirc. One of which was in Dayton, Ohio. Bit of a weird lineup. Cast Aside opened but Nodes of Ranvier also played. Can confirm 25 Ta Life played, as I distinctly remember getting beaten up to "Short Fuse".

Ryker's was an excellent inclusion. I had to pay double in 96-97 for ground zero and lesson in loyalty to get them as imports. Totally worth it. I gotta fire up the sander at work so I'll continue later but I hope Train of Thought is on here

Love is Red was so fun. What excellent dudes - when they broke up the members joined so many great bands - drummer -> Evergreen terrace Roger (guitarist) - sinking ships and wait in vain/Trial and Jeff ?Yancy moved to Chicago and was in Haunted Life or Expired Youth and probably some others. Anyway i caught 'em like 5 times in 03-05. Recently went back and listened to Relics, and that hope consipracy lp and they're both the best things those bands did

Instilled is the most underrated band from the early/mid 2000's - Atlanta hardcore - i think conservative military image frontman was the vocalist in it - saw 'em twice - once with outbreak, drugtest, and iron guts kelly in KC to 16 people and it's the only time i've seen where everyone in the building was moshing - it was to outbreak - but Instilled - it goes so hard and has a bass drop that blew my dads car stereo. Oh and Few and the Proud, Left Hand Path, and Expired Youth are all criminally underrated and has remained my go to hardcore since '05. OH and The Nerve Agents

Zero Tolerance was Cro Mags and Leeway combined but from Buffalo NY. In the late 80's/early 90's they were THE. band from Buffalo. I would love to see a full discography from them. They are a big reason why Buffalo hardcore for a time sounded a lot like Metallica. Check out Slug Fest, Discontent and early Snapcase to get a idea. If ZT was from NYC they probably would have been a bigger band. In Effect Records was considered singing them, I can't see a valid argument to not sign them. ZT was incredible!
