This car is way better than Eleanor. The original Eleanor was just a 1971 Mustang sportsroof that was facelifted to look like a 1973 sportsroof. It also just had the 250 CID inline 6 in it. Sam's Mustang is a real 1971 Mach 1 with the 351 Cleveland Cobra Jet. This is an amazing car. I do love the OG Eleanor as well though.

😂 I almost caught fire from the degree of that lie about it catching fire because it was "going so fast it broke the sound barrier," lol. 😮. E even stated the guy was going just over 200 mph. (About 560mph slower than the sound barrier lol). Not to mention that the stock Cleveland or Windsor 351 V8 could NOT reach close to 200mph at all. Maybe with the gearing he might have been able to reach close to 150 or 160mph at best. Lol. Funny guy!!❤😂

Wow, you got really lucky on this car. With the fire not getting into the interior, this will be a very easy repair. Minus the paint job, I could probably rebuild this car in one week if I had the parts it needed. I'd almost guarantee it'll fire right up with a new distributor, plug wires, maybe a coil and a new engine wiring harness.

I had a 71 mach 1 back when I was young and tossed a 460 into it from a 76 Lincoln. It was insane. I had to beef that unibody in ways that would boggle a ford engineers mind as the torque almost twisted that car in half the first time I laid down some posi. You don't want to know what 17 year old me did to the firewall and inner fenders to shoehorn that enormous block of metal under that hood. I had it for five years. I got stationed in Korea while in the army and, at that time, lower enlisted weren't allowed to have personally owned vehicles over there, so I left it in my parents garage. My brother was thoughtful enough to take it out driving to 'keep the battery charged up' and got into an illegal drag race with an a**hole I'd beaten on the track twenty times. He won, but lost it in the slow down, flipping it multiple times. He walked away without a scratch, the mustang went straight to the junkyard in three large pieces and a fifty gallon drum for all the little bits. The pictures from the police report were horrifying. I hope you do finish this one. Mach 1s for years were the least popular mustangs, but people have finally started to appreciate them. Please, do not lose those louvers over the rear window. That little bit of 70s insanity is what makes the car.

A little over looked fact The sound barrier is a bit over 700 mph , Not 200 mph. If this car before the accident could do 150 mph it would have been doing extremely well.. They should of shown us some of the other cars 🙂
