Just upgraded to the t.16000m flight pack from the tflight hotas x and it totally changed the game for me! All the hat switches, buttons, the precision of the stick and throttle, and the pedals produce such a different sensation when flying and I can't believe I didn't make the upgrade sooner! Thanks for the detailed review!

@@Kazperh thanks for your reply. I got the throttle and the big knob is not ideal for pan view because of difficulty in controlling axis that would go too fast. I ended up using it for radar antenna azimuth slew instead while the hat switch for TDC movement target selection on MFD. I set the flight stick hat switch for pan view.

I've had mine for quite a while now and the only issue I really had was with the slide rails on the throttle. Fortunately a little Nyogel 767A (eBay, $25) and an hour or so or my time made the throttle absolutely buttery smooth, much better than I could have ever imagined. To anyone who wants to go the extra mile and who appreciates a wickedly smooth throttle without the slight "catching" or "jerking" I would definitely recommend it.

@@vnyggi621 Silicone Dielectric Grease. You can get a small squeeze tube of it at any auto parts store for $5-$8. A little bit will go a long way. Too much will create resistance, so for this purpose, a thin film works best. It will not harm plastic or rubber. It does feel a bit weird on the skin, but it won't hurt you. I'm a Mechanic, and I use the stuff all the time. And it still feels strange to me!

The joystick apparently has a design flaw that often causes it to develop z-axis drift after a rather short use life. Mine lasted about 120 hours of play time before it started drifting. Supposedly it's possible to repair, if you can find a replacement sensor and don't mind soldering.

I'm thinking of adding this to my Warthog system because that throttle would make a nice radar control module for the F-5. It has everything in roughly the correct place (and a little more). Nice review.... Bought one, spot on with my (limited) use thus far and I'm happy with my purchase. The only issue I have is that I wish it's size was a tad smaller. My old M$ Sidewinder Precision 2s fit my small hands better, especially around the stick's thumb buttons. That tall thumb trim (coolie hat) button really gets in the way when using the side buttons. Anyway Thanks!!!

MY RECOMMENDATION TO YOU: DCS is free for the next 8 days and a lot of us newbs are franticly searching for videos on how to videos related to the game's weapons, flight systems, etc. You should make as many beginner focused tutorials as you can to grow your channel. Grim Reapers is doing that, but he doesn't have your picture-in-picture setup.

This HOTAS is great. First I bought a X56 pro figuring for $249 it's got to be one of the best, I hated it, the throttle was way too stiff and the yaw twist hurt my wrist it was so bad. So I shipped it back to Logitech and got this. I am blown away by what a difference this makes. Logitech needs to get their act together because Thrustmaster blows them away. The throttle on the 16000m is a little sticky but easily fixed.

Nice review. I've had one for almost a year now under heavy usage and it still works fine although a few small problems have arisen. The stick has a tiny wiggle in the center, whereas previously it was rock solid. Doesn't really matter though and the sensor still works perfectly. In addition, the rudder thingy on the throttle is pretty much broken. I used it for my rudder exclusively but now it's pretty much unusable. (Huge ghost inputs) I'm using the twist on the stick now, which is fine but I did prefer the throttle rudder as long as it worked. I've always found the buttons (not the hats, those are really nice) on the stick and throttle a bit mushy, but perfectly usable. I had the Logitech 3D prior to this which had really tactile and sharp buttons. That said, it's really solid system and definitely worth the money. The button layout is damn near perfect, the stick could maybe use a button or two more (or a hat).

I am using for DCS the CH Pro Throttle , with a ton of hats , 4 way switches and castles. And my CH Fighter Stick is a replica of the F16s stick. Mid 90s era I bought these used but was in mint condition. Lately I have been looking at the Thrustmaster T.16000M , not sure why I seem intrigued. I watched your video on use within DCS , and for me I cant see how I would benefit from it since the stick is lacking 4 way hats and castles . Then there is the issue of re mapping all the keybinds all over again , as I own every DCS module thats alot of mapping. For example the A10C has a ton of controls and I just had enough with my CH Hotas , but with this Thrustmaster its hard to see if it would even be possible to use in DCS , The throttle does seem to have more hats and 4 ways I guess thats a plus.

Depends on game and what you are flying... If it's ww2/cold wat stuff then yes, rudder is better, especially if you want the immersion. Most games have settings to auto rudder in flight sooo really its about what you want your Sim experience to be

I could not agree more - I have this and the NEW logitech x56 and this setup is just better, especially in a game you can use a shist button (I play Elite: Dangerous) so I don't even need the stick base buttons. The button placement is just where they should be unlike the X56 and the twist is much better... especially when looking at price it cannot be beat.

So, I got mine 7 months ago, and yesterday the Z-AXIS went nuts. I was able to open and clean it up, but I'm afraid the issue will be back soon. That wasn't a good sign for me. I would expect problems after maybe 2 years, not 7 months where I'm not even a heavy user. I work my days, and use this thing no more than 2 hours/day, and the z-axis is the least used for flight sims. Let's see how long it will last.

Its a great stick, my only beef with it is the spring tension on the stick is over done. I fly a lot of ww1 stuff in Rise of Flight and constantly needing to push the stick forward to arrest the natural climb gets tiresome after a few hours. I can be mitigated slightly in the response curves but stuff that doesn't have any kind of trim is quite uncomfortable to fly after a short while. Whilst it is plastic its comfortable to fly with but more suited to more modern era that comes with the added wonder of elevator trim. Its very accurate and robust. Other thing I don't like about it is the stick is very short.

Thinking of upgrading to this from an Extreme 3D Pro, mostly for Freespace 2. Do they hold up for a while? 3D Pros used to work for at least a year, but the more recent ones keep crapping out after a few months; either the twist axis keeps pulling right or the buttons stop working. I'm hoping this HOTAS would be more durable. I'm a bit concerned about the number of buttons, though. I know you could theoretically use the throttle's hats for an additional 16 buttons (though realistically I think it's more like 12, because I doubt I could reliably hit the diagonals on the 8-way hat as a single, discrete button press), but it seems like that might be a bit awkward. I know there are also a ton of buttons on the base, but I tend not to use those.

Hat switch on stick is usually what people use for trim. This is how it is in most real jets. Unfortunate that the stick has so few buttons. If it had a thumb button and a pinky switch, I would have bought this setup already. Not sure why they cannot make a plastic version of their warthog stick and put it on this setup. I would pay a little bit more for the setup if that was the case. Call it a poor mans warthog.

There is also a version with ruder pedals. Would that be a good choice to? It would be slightly cheaper for me as the company I work for sells only the triple combo(joystick, throttle, and pedals). Normally I'd go for just 2. They do sell them separately. Throttle and joystick that is. Mind you I live in Poland so the price has to be divided by current exchange rate to get US dollars(or most other currencies). 249 USD for triple. 180 USD for two. I'm sort of asking for a hint. I've been thinking to get something solid with separate throttle that can be upgraded with pedals too. So far I have cheap ok stick but it is showing signs of its cheapness.

I watched your video of how to fix it and although it was a great video for those that already spent the money on one, I can’t see myself spending almost a weeks wages for something that needs to be torn down to fix something the manufacturer should have remedied a long time ago!

Jabbers it might have been worth mentioning your opinion of TARGET in the video. Yes, this is a HARDWARE review, and as you correctly state, programming functions in DCS are better handled in-game, but many users will choose to use TM's programming - which could potentially spoil their enjoyment, if they never read the comments. I have the TWCS and TFRP pedals and they are a huge improvement over my 20 year-old TM Cougar HOTAS and Elite pedals. I have the option of plugging the pedals into the throttle where they become an extension of it but that removes the functionality of the rocker lever. It's a pity TM didn't see fit to send you the full HOTAS rig to test. The only reason I don't & won't use a T1600 stick is the lack of buttons compared with the Cougar handle. In any case I plan to replace the ageing Cougar stick with a Virpil Gunfighter later this year.

I've had this hotas (and the rudder pedals) for about 2 or 3 years. Recently mounted them to my chair for extra comfort. Jabbers is absolutely right about the quality of the sensitivity of the stick, it is very very good for the price point. The hat at the top of the stick is good, and the buttons at the top are meh. I wish the stick replicated one of the actual fighter jet sticks as opposed to this custom design, because if it had the layout of the F-16, A-10, F-18... any of them, then I'd keep it forever. The buttons on the base of the flight stick are also useful, but not under stress as they aren't the easiest to tell apart from one another. The hardware inside the stick that makes it rotate gums up a bit, and there are videos out there of how to open it up, but in my experience over 3 years of use, if you use a teflon silicone lube and put a couple small drops on the guard that the stick goes through, then rotate the stick around, the lube will travel around the guard and get into the gimbal (or whatever its called) and lube the necessary parts. The throttle is very awesome but it does require the occasional touch of silicone lube along the rails under the plastic. I didn't open it up or anything. Just dab some lube onto a q-tip and run along the rails. Very very small amount of lube makes the throttle glide with very little resistance. The amount of buttons on the throttle, and given that the throttle layout somewhat mimicks a combination of f-18 and f-14, makes it difficult for me to want to ever give it up (i set my hotas up to match the real jet control scheme as closely as possible). I am intending on upgrading to the Rhino hotas, but I want to echo jabbers that if you can't go straight to Rhino or Warthog, you should get this hotas and you'll be absolutely satisfied with it, and you can "compete" with guys who have way more expensive set ups. Also, in 3 years of regular use (maybe 1,000 hours), not a single part of either the stick or the throttle has broken. As long as you fly with gentle, smooth inputs (watch how jabbers moves his stick and throttle) then you shouldn't have any trouble with quality. Not shown in the video, but the matching rudder pedals from Thrustmaster are awful. I wish I bought ch product pedals instead, or saved up money when it was available to buy higher quality pedals. The TWCS rudder pedals have serious friction resistance issues and they do not lube well AT ALL. There's too many cheap clamps attached to the rails.

For the price, there is no better HOTAS. Hall effect accuracy. The analog TDC stick on the throttle is spot-on. The integrated rudder pedals on the throttle blew me away. I can't believe anyone hasn't thought of this before. Putting the stick and throttle together gives you 9 analog axis to program!!! You can't even get that from the Warthog HOTAS!!!!

not enough hats and castles on the stick , how in the world would you manage F16 or A10 , DMS up, down , left , right ... TMS up , down , left , right. Nice stick but you need many 4 way switches to manage these systems

why do you use the rudder like that with the paddles? I thought that with this joystick you can use the joystick itself for the rudder? You can twist it left and right, right?

@@Jabbers Ok, so you can use the rudder by twisting it left and right. The way you did it made me doubt if this joystick could do that. I'm looking for a new joystick but i need one where you can use the rudder by twisting the joystick/your wrist. That's why i felt like double checking if this joystick could do that.

What do you use for looking around? Do you have a Headset of some sort? Nice Review, thank you. I've been enjoying your content and want to buy DCS too but it's so hard that I'm scared of having a bad time. I tried some DCS clone mods in ArmA 3, like the A10 with all interior buttons and stuff. Felt great even bringing the Aircraft in the air because you need actual knowledge and there is simply more to it than pressing "w".

I use the z-axis on the joystick as my rudder. At least until I can splurge from some quality rudder pedals like the MFG Crosswinds. Question, on my throttle it seems to bind a lot. Ie the movement isn't very smooth always. Was much better at first but within 2 hours it seemed to chatter (not noise, feel). How is yours?
@Jabbers
@Jabbers 6 жыл бұрын
Mine seems fine, did you touch the metal slides? Perhaps the grease came off?
@ElGrecoDaGeek
@ElGrecoDaGeek 6 жыл бұрын
The metal slides are on the inside (the outer rails are just decoration) so that's a no go on touching. I tried to take a peak and I can't quite tell if they were lax on the grease. To be clear it's not sticking it just "chatters" binds a little. If I press down it does better. It may be that the adjustment needs to be fine tuned but I like the current amount of resistance so I'll tweak it a little and see how that does. I may RMA it and see how that goes. Thanks!

After all that, I am in the market for a new HOTAS, I currently have a Saitek X-52. I was thinking about the Logitek (former Saitek) X-56, or this TMaster T.16000. between the two which should I get, I am not sure if you have tried the X-56, I checked your You tube vault, I didn't see anything . I've heard mixed reviews about them with quality issues and they say the latest ones are better. Interested because I don't have rudder pedals and I don't have a big budget.

You would use the keyboard or buttons on the controllers, alternatively you can get something like trackir or delan clip that attaches to your head and mimics movement

I didn't have any? All products have issues here and there and depending on usage, joysticks are typically abused, left to sit, or sometimes just give out.... I have had plenty that do. I didn't have any issues with this unit, but it's also no my daily stick, I used it for a couple weeks and did the review.... Long term usage would have to be a different video or based on other customer feedback as you have obviously checked and found out. It's time to use that big boy brain and come to your own conclusion 😉
