Would love to see a comparison between the WES and new SSL Native plugs as they generally sound more analog than other plug. Would also be great to hear a version of the plugin in parallel letting some of the original signal through to see if it sounds closer to the analog

@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy yeah I've been watching your shootouts. They're great. MixbusTV just did a series of videos doing a whole mix ITB vs OTB. And the results were even more drastic than expected. Not sure what plugs he was using though. Perhaps could be closer with the likes of SSL native and choice UAD. Do you have the stems to any of your analog mixes available by any chance? Would like to run them through my template to see how close I can get to analog ITB

The hardware is much wider and has a bit more air and space because of that. Lovely! Question: To save buying another compressor could you also use the NG Bus for say tracking a vocal or acoustic guitar? 🤔

Nice vid! The plugin does a fair job. For the soloing thing, there is an option in Pro Tools to solo a track and then when you solo other track, the previous solo track is muted. There might be a similar option in Studio One. Cheers!

The attack on the plugin is very obviously plugin-y, so 2D I suppose, whilst the hardware is much more 3D it seems. When it comes to transformers, as they're on the output it makes sense to put it after the plugin

Plugin sounds fantastic! ....and then you hear the hardware and there is just no way to make plugins go as wide sonically as the hardware or as deep. It is that depth. But most notably is always the width. A reason why I have invested in some hardware comps. They don't even have to be top of the line, plenty of great stuff in the 500-2k range and 500 series. EQ is very very close now though.

Very nice comparison, on full mix its harder to make a difference . I was considering to buy the Wes Ngbus , but a lot of people say its more of a drum bus compressor , not so for mastering .. so now i am looking into Bettermakers M comp or RND MBP .

David you bring up THE QUESTION !! Hardware vs Plug-ins. I have found they both work Great. But Depending on if you are recording strait into your daw. Mixing it with Hardware Helps. I have found that Hardware Adds Air, Clarity, And Dimension. For me there is something Special as far as Sound that was so present in the Past. The 80's for me Brought out so much of what I'm shooting for in my Mix! And most of the music had Tape, Consoles and Hardware. Can you still make Great Music with a DAW and Plug-INs Yes !!!!! Its Done every day. But to me it sounds Digital if that is a word. I have been able to bring some of that vibe on use of Plug-Ins and using my SSL Fusion (Hardware) on my Master Bus. Hope this makes sense. Thanks Again Donnie

Makes perfect sense and if that is what you like then there is nothing wrong with it. Just like when people completely disagree and will only work with plugins, that is fine as well. whatever keeps you inspired and working on music in your studio. That's what matters.

Wow! On the hardware the kick/snare sounds fatter/bigger/more snap and, there is a depth to the entire drum kit as I listen on my monitors. This for the first example you did.

I want to be fair and would also say that the plug does a "Nice" job, a little bit washed and bleached. The Hardware has without any doubt audible more bite, dimension... This is the extra mojo, the plug does not have. And thats the reason why superstars go analog.... Sorry....
