The Mac users are having a ball, I started with pro tools and switched to Studio one because of the speed in work flow and the drag in drop is like ice cream with cake, UAD strength is as you say their plug ins and the interfaces, they could of balanced with both formats than hype this DAW up and slap you in the face with a Beta with bugs and just finish it or complete it for use, also UAD is copying Presonus subscription model , Now UAD is up against the wall to produce and back up what this DAW can do, It's becoming Tuna instead of LUNA , Looks like a Harrison Clone ?

Update: I purchased one of these on the second hand market today. :) I don't want to comment too much here, as I am looking forward to YOUR thoughts in the next and future videos. I don't want to steal your thunder. :) The latest software version made it even easier to configure in Studio One than what I saw on YT.. I was up and running in minutes. Overall I really like it, although there are things I like and things I don't. One glaring issue I see is not unique to Studio One, as I have heard another DAW is working on a fix for it. It is NOT a deal breaker. Looking forward to your next video!

@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy I've worked with two of their controllers (not my own purchases though, just in two separate studios) and both owners of the controllers have noticed very uneven quality control. Knobs and sliders not being reliable nor consistent in their operation (this I can 100% confirm as they definitely felt uneven) also the software apparently being very buggy (this I can not confirm as it was working fine while I was using the controllers). The controllers just feel "cheap" for the lack of another word. Compared to some of the industry standard out there. For instance, I now have the Console 1 mk3 and the quality of their knobs is on a whole other level. No wobble, no inconsistencies at all. Try this: Try spinning the knobs fast to move the values of your control target (pan, EQ.. whatever). See if the value actually follows your movement? Last time I tried their controller this didn't work at all. The values were glitching all over the place.

Luna, in regards to sound quality, is leagues above "ANY" DAW in existence right now. Luna is literally what Pro Tools use to be. An Audio King. Luna IS NOT a great DAW for music production, and it's not for that use (Exclusively for Mixing & Mastering). I'm a Studio One Power user, and I'll always produce tracks in S1, Reason or NI. However, when I mix and master, it's done in Luna. Unfortunately, Luna does not have Dolby Atmos. 1 Negative, 2-Luna is not for music production. The sound is freaking ridiculous. UAD are gods when it comes to the plugin game on "their" platform. This is how you use Luna. I bought Luna Pro, and I have a subscription to UAD Spark.

All DAW's sound the same. dont drink the kool-aid...LOL They are 1's and 0's
@SouthernEmperor3 күн бұрын
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy All DAWs do not sound the same, although it’s 0’s and 1’s. Reason does not sound like Presonus. Luna, because of the extensions built into the DAW, sounds different than the Mixing Consoles in Studio One. I’ve been on Studio one since V. 1.5, as I came from Pro Tools. I’m not new, lol. There is a difference.
@HomeRecordingMadeEasy2 күн бұрын
Yes they do! if you use the Luna extensions (Neve / API), then you are adding a "plugin" which changes the sound and that plugin used to cost $300!. That's no different than adding a plugin to any other DAW. Aside from that, they all sound EXACTLY the same.

I like the reviews you have on the gear and software that comes across your desk. Grateful that you do this. The V1-M was on my desk as a 2023 Christmas gift from my kids. The build quality, controls and meter bridge were awesome just as you described. After 2 weeks, I sent it back and picked up the SSL UF8. I couldn't get the V1-M to do anything I needed, like naming macros for the touchscreen and controlling any plugin including third party without using the mouse. In order to figure out the V1-M functions and features, I wound up using SSL documentation and videos. The SSL 360 middleware isn't even in the same league here. Thus, if SSL was that far ahead, it made sense to shell out a few more $. I will watch the upcoming videos you release as maybe all of that has changed?

I really think this device looks amazing!!!! I could see it replacing my FaderPort8 and StreamDeck. But... the price. :( The FaderPort series is a bit long on the tooth and PreSonus doesn't appear interested in updating it. But it works, for now. The Icon-V1-M is twice the price of the FaderPort 8 for the same number of (base) channels, and more than the FaderPort 16. Yes there is an expansion module available for the icon, but again it is more money. Music is my hobby, not my profession. Is it worth the $$? The answer is, of course, subjective to the individual situation. But this device is SOOOO cool :) Looking forward to the next and future videos in this series! I am seriously interested in this device, but need to know more about how it works IRL in Studio One and Ableton. :)

Great review, David! Thanks! Let us answer a couple of your questions. 1)Jog Wheel sensitivity - We've adjusted the jog wheel sensitivity in a recent firmware update, so it isn't quite so sensitive. 2) The Focus button allows you to control plugin parameters. If you open a plugin with the Focus activated, and hover your mouse over a parameter, you can control that parameter with the jog wheel. As you get deeper, you'll want to read the manual. There are a lot of features you can find out about there.

It Looks nice. The big LCD Screens look easy to read. I have vision trouble! Icons new line of controllers all have great options for LCD screens. Im tried of label tape plastered all over my gear. I think other controllers are missing the mark with this option. I know they have screens but if they are laying flat on the desk it does me zero good. I then have to find a work around and prop up the controller so i can see. I cant be the only person that fights this. Great video.

I have a Presonus Studio 1824c. My only confusion is at the end... so to record the final mix I have to come out of a set of the outputs on the 1824c to the 1/2 inputs of the 1824c... right? So it doesn't affect anything because its just playing back the "pre-recorded" tracks right? 🤷♂

Long-time Logic user here, and new to Luna. Posting this in June 2024, so about a year after you recorded this video. Your series is looking pretty good so far, so thank you :) Just wanted to point out, though, that Logic also has that channel strip on the Track/Arrangement page and the Stereo Out strip as well, and you can do anything in those that would be done in the Mixer view - just like in Luna. So while tracking, and if we want plugins active, for example, you can do all that right from the main Arrangement window (Tracks View) without flicking back and forth to the mixer just to tweak a plugin while tracking. Keep up the good work :)

I noticed the API extensions are way more expensive than the other VST's UA offers. Is that because the extensions are integrated into the LUNA console in a similar way the consoles are integrated in Studio One? Or is the difference simply the API extension shows up on the strip whereas the VST does not? Also, is LUNA a lot like Harrison Mixbus with the dedicated console? Thanks so much
