good video and job nice bundler i never had any luck with hondas or kawasuckee. honda needs to fix it for free. i had one never ran right if you cut it off hot it would not restart when new. till it would not run at all dealer said they nolonger made that coil and pick up. i replaced the motor with a HFT one runs great now and has a lot more power $399 the replacement kawasuckee was $2,000 including shipping. take care, be safe and well

Hi Rachel and Heath I just wanted to say that I have a feeling it is the low oil sensor. The spark plug either works or it doesn’t they will break down overtime, but that does not sound to me like your issue, but you showed me on video. It’s all about ignition or electrical. I mean to say either gets fuel or doesn’t get fuel if you unplug the oil sensor and see if that fixes it if it is just replace it, hope this helps love the video.
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
Thanks, I unplugged the low oil sensor and it didn’t change. It seems to be the inside cylinder, have some new coils coming hopefully that fixes it.
@TimStout71Ай бұрын
While I'm not a mechanic I have had that problem on my dad's john deere mower. I would check your spark arrestor for a partial clog, Is the new fuel filter the correct size and what fixed my fathers mower was the breather hole in the gas cap was plugged. Good luck !!!!

Thanks Tim, the fuel vent is clear but haven’t checked the spark arrester yet.

Start it up in the dark and see if you have sparks jumping around. If you do use black electric tape to wrap up the wires. I have seen it happen with even brand new sparkplug wires. By you feeling it through the boots I would check that out. My experience happen on 4 cylinder car motors.

Thanks, I’m going to check it out at night and see what I can figure out.

Thank you, appreciate the feedback. We try to produce a good mix of video styles.
@stephenreiner1523Ай бұрын
Hmm, it's either a fuel restriction issue or valves that are out of time, that's what I would check first. Also try using a resistor spark plug that won't be throwing spark not into the cylinder. I think that's the issue here.
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
Going to check the valves as well.

My EFI Kohler runs like that if I forget to open the gas tank vent. Also check the clamps on the inline fuel filter. If it sucks air it will run like that. There are a few other things that can cause that but start with these two things.
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
Thanks, I know the vent is open and clear I’ll check the clamps.

@markMac407Ай бұрын
Hello Heath and Rachel!!! Regarding the Honda, have you checked the air filter for mice nests? Also check the motor mounts for tightness, or any ground wires for tightness Sometimes they loosen up with working hard and it causes sporadic behaviors with the ignition systems when the ground is loose. Hope this helps!!!
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
Yes I did, but thanks for the tips. I have some new coils coming soon, hoping that fixes it.
@justinauman5438Ай бұрын
On the engine issue maybe do a test by wrapping the wires with electrical tape pretty cheap test to maybe a fix since you’re feeling the shock
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
Thanks, it’s worth a shot.
@dougr3715Ай бұрын
Fuel vent, or fuel shut off partially closed? Pull and check fuel bowl. Add a little sea foam. Run it in the dark to see if the spark jumps. Don’t pull the carburetor off if you’ve never done a Honda carburetor. If you pull the mounting screws, all the stacked gaskets and spacer fall apart. I’m a mechanic and they can be frustrating for me. Hope it’s something simple, but just a guess without looking at it! Enjoy your channel, by the way!
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
Going to check it at night. It’s fuel injected so no carberator.

@robertpalumbo3153Ай бұрын
I didn't hear you mention the air cleaner was checked. Could be that something is restricting air flow too. The newer motors controlled by the electronics could be starving for air and not getting the right fuel air mixture.
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
Yeah I checked the air cleaner it was still good!

@chrismartin4776Ай бұрын
On lower speed it sounds like one cylinder is loosing spark. Maybe at higher speed the un- burnt fuel causes the other cylinder to work harder and the governor/ fuel system can’t adjust right. Maybe try to take the temperature of each cylinder with an infrared thermometer to see if one is cooler. I have a hustler zero turn with a Honda that the one coil went bad and kept using it too long before changing it then later the other cylinder lost compression
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
Thank you, I did find the plug on the inside cylinder was a little wet so I think that’s my problem cylinder.

I also had a Fall in the Garage today banged up a bit but am alright Heath I think it's The Spark Plug Boot. If you got a Little Shock from it that is Probably it. Another thing that gets overlooked is the Low Oil Sensor. It's a cheap little module. When the engine starts up, and the Low Oil Sensor is defective, it starts thinking the engine is low on oil, and grounds the coil. They don't fail very often, in this manner, but when they do they can drive you crazy. I had a walk behind compactor with this problem, when it revved up, it would start shutting off, then would catch itself and rev again. The Low Oil Sensor problem is easy to prove, just bypass it.
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
Thanks, I tried unplugging the oil sensor and there was no change. Appreciate the tip though.

@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын

Could be dirt or a dirty screen or could be in the carburetor has dirt in it or water in the carburetor
@hardworkingmanoutdoorsАй бұрын
This one is fuel injected so no carb. Hopefully we get it going soon.
@chrisarmstrong-kh6lyАй бұрын
Hard to troubleshoot an engine from a video but those spark plug boots should not be shocking you. The engine sounds to me like a coil is bad on one cylinder. That spark plug wire is connected to the coil, remove the shroud where the plug wire comes thru and replace that coil that is shocking you. Before removing the old coil check the air gap with a feeler guage and reset the new coil to that. Hope this is helpful. Chris A.
