I used to tell people "Don't listen to country, its bad for your complexion". I come from a family of hard rock (Metallica/AC DC). After the new metal era (Korn/Limp Bizkit/ System of a Down) I ventured down a road I discouraged and fell in love with country. The fact this dude and his guys are mainly country and are covering songs like this... You have to appreciate it. This is the results when an artist grows up in an era like this (new metal), but plays a different genre and still plays what got their attention in the first place. This (Hardy style) is exactly what country music needs now. I been waiting for this shape of collaboration to form (Heavy/country). If any of you read this comment.... Stay true to your roots guys. Don't ever stop playing what you love and where yell came from. Yall are the beginning of something great here and have the talent and style for it. You guys covered this flawlessly and I'm sure Wes from POM would agree.

I just turned on the captions and realized the message of this beautiful song. Even though I am only 13, this made me start crying so hard because my dad has tried my whole life to be this to me, and succeeded. Listening to the lyrics to this song made me cry the hardest i have in a long time because of how much i appreciate it and how lucky i am. The biggest goal in my life is to marry a great woman and have kids, so i can be this to them. If i dont do this, i have failed in life, no matter what other things i do. Even the thought of having kids and getting them taken from me makes me want to die. I couldn't do it without being with my child. I am super hated at my school and sometimes think i will never be able to do this if every girl hates me, but i will start making hige changes if necessary to get to do this. If you read through this whole thing, thank you. Sometimes I wish i could vent like this in person.

What really sells this to me is how close it runs to POM's original while while standing on its own merit. Hardy's lyric enunciation has all the same subtle twangs that POM has, but slightly cleaner. Add that to the final mix being a cleaner cut, and it's a worthy rendition. POM's original release was back in the early 00's era of grunge, so it has a different sound to it overall.

Good cover. That's it. Original song is another thing. Period.

I prefer this guys rock style over his country style. Can anyone recommend any similar artists to Hardy?

Check out some of the guys on the Texas Music Scene. A lot of them get bunched into the “country” genre but they’re really mostly rock. Guys/bands like Koe Wetzel, Whiskey Myers, Giovanni & the Hired Guns, Read Southall Band, Kolby Cooper, Pecos & the Rooftops, to name a few. Let me know what you think!
