@pdogone1, I think they're known as "silent cellos" meaning that they're designed for practice without noise, but you need to hook them up to an amp for any actual noise to occur.

Its a reality, though. We do judge based on beauty and it affects our subject on a subconscious level. You have to admire them from not only recognizing all their talents(including their appearances) but also combining and selling it in a marketable way. I love the classical crossover genre and they're really different. Actually, both quartets changed their first violinists to other new members (Haylie Ecker and Izzy Johnston). In bond Tania Davis (ex viola-player) is now on first violin meanwhile new member Elspeth Hanson is currently playing the viola since 2008. I learned recently that Izzy Johnston left Escala on December 2011 and replaced by Honor Watson. But I prefer bond ;)

un micrófono inalámbrico es el que usan los conductores de tv, lo que ellas usan es un transmisior inalámbrico, porque esos violines al no tener caja sonora no detectan sonido (como lo hace un micrófono inalámbrico o no) sino detectan las bibraciónes de las cuerdas en el puente, mismo que está unido a una placa de metal y cobre. Vaya todo eso lo sé porque tengo 4 violines eléctrico, un fender, yamaha, zeta y fisher que es como el de ellas

y obvio, al no tener caja sonora producen un sonido muy bajo que es facilmente opacado por la pista de fondo. Tan sencillo como poner "mute" en cabina o en el master y dejar que la pista corra y cree ese efecto de que están tocando en vivo. Esque además de llevar 12 años tocando violín tmb he trabajado en TV y sé como se hacen esos eventos, y un violín eléctrico conectado no suena así en vivo por la frecuencia que genera, muuuy distinta a un violí acústico
