I think I get it now, why they have boys choirs, is because they are getting the boys higher pitched voices before their voices change at adolescence.
@thatpianoman92521 күн бұрын
@@youtubefan754 The music theory behind unchanged boys' voices is very fascinating, for those of us that have analytical minds. Boys tend to have a clearer, brighter vocal tone than girls/women, which is part of what makes boy choirs ideal for specific choral works. Extra bonus is the discipline and musical knowledge learned by the choristers.

@thatpianoman925 Thanks for your rapid response. I actually wasn't deliberately trying to be analytical, as you indirectly implied in your response. That was told to me years ago, because when I was young, I couldn't help being curious about why boys' choirs were a thing. And I almost added to my above comment earlier, that I think the British boys choirs sound the most high, clear as a bell, but I didn't want to offend anybody.
@thatpianoman92521 күн бұрын
@@youtubefan754 not offensive at all. Sound quality comes down to training and selective leadership, tbh. The "high church" (Anglican, Catholic, Episcopal, United Methodist) tends to put more effort into their choral programs, as they depend more on their liturgical traditions. English boy choirs, specifically, undergo extensive training before they sing with the performance group. The Atlanta Boy Choir doesn't have the same polished sound of the King's College Choir, simply because the ABC's rehearsal schedule and training intensity are much less rigorous. Some UK choirs require the boys to actually board with their choir, which is unheard of in the USA.

Isn’t this the Georgia Boy Choir?

@@jazzmusicfan nope, the Georgia Boy Choir didn't exist yet.

@jazzmusicfan Correct. Mr. White was the Artistic Director of the Atlanta Boy Choir for almost 9 years.... But depending on who you talk to, he was fired by the board for budget mismanagement. Either way, when he left the ABC, the choir was a quarter-million dollars in debt and had no assets aside from the choir house near the corner of Ponce De Leon and Moreland Avenue. In the end, the choir was forced to sell the property to pay off the debt.
