No fiddle player, electric bass, guitar plays only rhythm, not my style of bluegrass. Keep it traditional. Good vocals however.

How can you get more traditional than Bill and Charlie Monroe on Guitar and Mandolin??? This is the original Monroe sound.

@@Brinksongs Monroe Bros .was oldtime (before 1945), not bluegrass. I guess you don't know what bluegrass is.

@@gabepentermann5345 you probably don't know me but I figure I know what bluegrass is. As a bluegrass songwriter I've had over 400 of my bluegrass songs recorded by many top bands as well as I've written 18 number 1 bluegrass songs. So, maybe I do know what bluegrass is :) LOL Sure Bill and Charlie were traditional but that is the term you used in your post. That Harley and Mike were not traditional. BTW, I've played in bands with them in Ohio. They were both incredible rest their souls! Have a great day...gonna go pick a few :) Brink Brinkman - 3 Time Nominee for Songwriter of the Year...International Award Winning Songwriter

@@gabepentermann5345 "Oldtime" is not a music genre. It's a label within the genre. As a KY native & almost 30 yr veteran of studying & playing bluegrass music on countless festival stages, TV & many other venues across this country as well as in other countries, I'd say I have a pretty good idea of what bluegrass is. The Monroe brothers were the original root form of what would later be defined as "bluegrass music". The 1946 version of "Bill Monroe & The Bluegrass Boys" (Bill Monroe on mandolin, Lester Flatt on guitar, Earl Scruggs on banjo, Chubby Wise on fiddle & Howard Watts on bass) were the resulting progression of the Monroe brother's sound. Bluegrass music was being played & invented WELL before 1946, but not in the modern band format that we are familiar with. Since Bill Monroe was born in 1911, one could easily argue that bluegrass music started on the day of his birth.

@@redlinemando The music of the twenties , thirties an forties (Carter Family , Carolina Tar Heels ,Mainers Mountaineers , Dixon Bros. , Monroe Bros. ,Blue Sky Boys ,Delmore Bros. to name a few , call it what you want : hillbilly music ,string-band music ,folk ,call it what you like , I don't call it bluegrass. Like you said , what we call bluegrass started in 1946 with Bill Monroe , with full band (guitar , banjo ,fiddle , mandolin ,bass ). I have been listening to bluegrass for more than 50 years. My interest in bluegrass and country started in the late fifties ,listening to radio station AFN (American Forces Network) in Bremerhaven , Germany. Later I visited many bluegrass festivals in the US. We had some good bands here in The Netherlands but don't know if they still exist , Covid ruines everything. Have a nice day and stay well.
