One performer that I never got to see, among others was Carter Stanley. He passed way before his time. His voice is just so haunting, if thats the right word.. Soothing is a'notherr. Thank the heavens someone thought to tape these and other music from this era and before so here 63 years later the music can still bring us so much joy and happiness if this pretty screwed up world we live in!!!

Thanks so much for these Live shows. I frequently listen to one of these shows as the first music I listen to in a day. Give me the Stanleys and The Osbourne Brothers and I'm good.

This is amazing! Its like being there, a snapshot in time! Seeing Ralph today on stage and then hearing this really shows how this music transcends time. Best part is how Carter says "this is a song that's going to come out soon"... and now, almost 60 years later, its a classic!

Don't know who you are, Mr Justin, but I can't begin to thank you enough for posting these Stanley shows. I saw them in 1965 or 66 when I was four or five years old and it literally changed my life. Later I sold my pony so I could buy a record player and ever since I've got every Stanley Bros record I could lay my hands on. Later I ended up playing bluegrass music professionally for over thirty years. So when I say they literally changed my life this is exactly what I mean. Thanks again.

You must have one of the finest Stanley Bros. collections in the country. Any chance you could upload some of your music?
@CAROLUSPRIMA9 жыл бұрын
Thanks but I'm sure many have better collections than I. I have a lot of Stanley Bros, probably most all the King stuff, and perhaps all or most of Ralph through when Charlie Sizemore sang with him. But having said that, my collection probably has been considerably diminished through moving around and divorce and such. And I wouldn't know how to upload from an album anyway. You have stuff that I've never heard, rare and important stuff and again I do appreciate your channel.

My dad and uncle knew the Stanley's well, they stayed at my uncle's house, Lonnie Bolin, when they played Dayton, OH. They also visited mt Papaw in Stacey Fork, Ky., and played in his yard, with my uncle. My dad could play and sing just like them, Ledford Bolin.

I graduated from high school in Annapolis MD in 1961....at that time there was an AM station in Baltimore that played bluegrass...I heard later that the reason the station was so successful was due to so many people from the South who had come to Baltimore for good paying jobs....at that time Baltimore was the 6th largest city in the country....there were lots of manufacturing plants plus the Port of Baltimore....it was a very prosperous era and offered a leg up for many Southerners.

After Dean Martin I believe Ralph Stanley was the coolest; most confident guy in his own easily shared gift in my lifetime{I am 60} Please hear me out. When talent is given to folks only some get an abundance of a particular talent. Earl Scruggs says he was a wee lad of ten years when he thought to add what he called "a second finger to help his thumb" I feel anyone reading this commentary needs no further elaboration on this. Nat King Cole was perhaps the most remarkable man of the decade in the fifties. He was a black man crooning his way into the most popular show Americans watched. Lucy came along, that is a story that would require more space than this We would agree I hope. To prove my point without continuing to spin yarns watch The good DR. sing Pretty Polly with Patty Loveless. The cool factor of Ralph Stanley is on full display as he he goes toe to toe with, well watch and decide for yourself. As I end I must add this caveat.. The two men are equally "the Kings of Cool" Just a different Suave factor. Love them all,the ones who have left us.They do.thanks to forums such as this have a chance to do something I would wish for us all. Through the talents they shared with us they Live Forever. If I ever find myself where they are my list would simply be this. Maybelle Carter would play guitar next to Sara on autoharp while Patsy sings to us Picture the harmonies and pure magic Sounds like Heaven.It should

You have no idea what memories it brings back for her and I. We used to have it on an old 33 and we've lost it some where. Any information would be extremely appreciated!
