polish the entire surface or just the edges?
@guidorehder68023 жыл бұрын
@@p.g.pg38 I had to polish the surfaces of all frets. They were pretty rough. After that everything was okay. Some people have told me that they didn't have to do that. So, I guess sometimes they just "forget" to process the frets at the factory.

Ihad one of these quite a few years ago, they really are a fantastic option for electro acoustic sound with a difference mine was ablue one too, can't remember the model but it was an Encore and had a serious bowl back too it so it was unstable a little but the noise it made, more than made up for the awkwardness of it to play.

Jepp, gonna order one of those. More than good enough for me. Was thinking of a used Ovation for a while, but never could make up my mind. Last time i checked, pretty expensive as used. So i never knew of this one before a week ago. Perfect, love everything traditional, but just a little bit different. Must say this is a lot different, and it sound good.🤓

I would buy it but shipping to USA is almost as much as price of guitar. It is very smart to ABS plastic, there is no need to use carbon fiber.

Love the ergonomics of a round back but I just can't keep it from sliding off while sitting. Some guitars have neck dive issues, I guess this has a "body slide" problem?
@perro00763 жыл бұрын
Same here, but if I sat properly with a straight back it fixed it for me. This kind of guitars in my view are best played standing up and slung low. The neck dive I fixed by using a wider strap. It also fixed the same issue I had with my half sidecut electric guitar. My buddy with his Tele had to do the same. Wider strap is the way.

@@HarleyBentonOfficial How about some feedback on my HBO-600? I've been a long-time fan of the Ovation "real thing" and formerly used super-shallow models extensively in live performance. I've had a dozen of U.S., Korean, and Indonesian versions. None of them had the correct neck angle, which is why I ended up going through a dozen of them. There's only so much you can do with the saddle to correct for the improper neck angle until there's nothing more you can do. My HBO-600 is the only "Ovation" I've owned that was made with the perfectly correct neck angle. It is the only one I've owned that had the neck relief set correctly. It's the only non U.S.A. made one I've had with a properly cut nut of the proper height. With all of that correct, it is also the only "Ovation" I've owned that had the string height set to Ovation factory spec. All I had to do to mine was tune it to concert pitch and play it. I expected to see some of the minor cosmetic flaws my lower-priced, Asian-made Ovations had. My HBO-600 is flawless. Literally. Even the inside of the bowl is clean and tidy. No haphazard top bracing, no sawdust, no globs of glue, no rattling electronics wiring.... It not only plays like an "Ovation," and looks like an "Ovation," but it also sounds like one is SUPPOSED to sound like, with even volume and sustain response up, down, and across the finger board, the percussive pop when you really dig in hard with the pick attack, the instant response to pick attack and subtle changes to attack, and so on. I "discovered" the HBO 600 while trying to find a place where I could buy a new shallow bowl Ovation. A video by Tomek Stężalski comparing the sound of an Ovation-branded instrument to the HBO-600 had me rushing to the Thomann site to buy one. It won't be the last. I recently played the thing in a 1,500 seat venue and it sounded GLORIOUS going direct through a D.I. box into the house's P.A. with the instrument e.q. set flat in the center detents. I plan on buying a couple more of these HBO-600 models, a couple of steel-string HBO 850's and a nylon string 850, as well as the HB roundback bass, because my experience with my HBO-600 was so positive. I originally thought the HBO-600 would be a stop-gap until I could re-equip with the "real Ovation thing." I'm so pleased with the HBO-600 that I'm just going to stick to HB roundbacks, instead. Now, the negative aspect..... Mine shipped with a dead pre-amp. Thomann agree to exchange it as a remedy, but the instrument was so perfect otherwise that I decided to simply buy a new pre-amp and swap it in myself. Doing that cost me ten bucks and fifteen minutes of my time. But, the positive thing is that the instrument uses the common, cheap, and readily available Belcat 505 preamp. I'm not married to whether Ovation is in business, owned by Fender, DW, GEWA, or whoever, or out of business if I need to replace the pre-amp. Other preamps will fit in Belcat 505 hole, too, so I'm not married to that one, either. In the past, I would use Ovation shallow-bowls with the center soundhole for lead work or combination lead/rhythm and use the multi-hole "epaulette" versions for mostly rhythm, hence my desire to buy a few HBO-850's And I would have several of each on stage due to use of alternate tunings and so on, where it's more convenient to have someone hand me another instrument than tune one multiple times during a set. But the plan has now changed. I need at least three more HBO-600's and a couple of 850's for my live work and would like to try the bass and the nylon string in the studio. I still can't get over the fact that one of the best "Ovation" guitars I've ever had isn't an Ovation branded instrument and is absolutely the least expensive instrument I've ever tried performing live with by a substantial margin. The only thing I might wish for is a HBO 600 with a Koa top and more bling with abalone position markers and abalone binding, and an HBO 850 with a Koa top and "torties shell" binding with abalone position markers.
