Harley Benton is incredibly proud to introduce the new G-Plus guitar cabinet family.
Featuring a combination of loaded cabinets with Made in UK Celestion speakers, as
well as unloaded cabinets, for the player who wants an empty canvas to begin with.
All cabinets feature an 18mm birch plywood construction, and come wrapped in a
classy black tolex with white piping, and a black grill cloth. And each cabinet has the
option of coming loaded with Made in UK Celestion speakers!
Celestion speakers have been powering rock n’ roll music since the early 60’s to the
modern era, and are the standard when it comes to guitar speakers. Our new cabs
come loaded with the very same speakers heard on countless recordings.

Good one. 9.5 for the effort 😊 Now joke aside a lot of the end result actually depends on the user. User can make or break the sound disregarding what gear he has. If the user has a system to lower the overall volume while amplifiers are in working tube range one can do strange things. Everyone that has an tube amp knows there are few points on the volume knob. First you do not get any sound until the level gets to the point when tubes start to conduct the signal at all. At that level most of the tube amps sound anemic. Then, often just bit pass that there is a point where amp starts sounding bit like it should. This point might be tolerable over the day time if you are really good player and with very kind people living around you. Definitely not a bedroom level. Next point is a sweet spot and that is always at power levels that might get you into the problems even on the stage. Venue sound engineer might ban you or your own band might get mad. Last best known setting is the Hendrix setting. So using that volume pot only one can never have nice tone in the house with the tube amp. But there are other volume pots in the system. So if you dial in that second volume knob position that is just bit to loud one can lower the volume on the overdrive pedal and get the level down to acceptable level. This is only possible when you are getting your gain structure from the pedals them self. If you depend on the amp to make gain this is simply impossible especially with non master volume models. Lowering volume on the pedals in front of the overdriven amplifier will just lower the gain level and not the overall gain. One can still use for example an EQ pedal in the FX loop and lower down the volume with it. Thais if your amp has a FX loop. But if your gain structure comes from the pedals lowering volume on good overdrive pedal cost less tone change. Now you got amp working somewhat and level is acceptable. But if you have 1x12 lows might be still to low. Funny fact is that at that volumes more speaker will produce nicer tone and more lows at low level. That’s effect of the low end coupling of the speakers. So yes 4 cabinets of 4x12 will have more lows at low volume and sound more impressive than 1x12 cabinet that needs power to make air move at all. All that said every rig sounds better louder it gets. Actually only boutique amplifiers can sound good under the sweet spot and even those sound better at higher power levels. But we are talking about best compromise and that volume lowering trick is best there is disregarding that is not a best sound of any rig. Even when not using wet dry or wet dry wet rigs using two or more amplifiers is simply magic. Two different sounding amps helping each other rocks. Even using two different sounding speakers in the 2x12 sounds better. This is because of the fact that if something is designed to do everything becomes jack of all trades but master of none. On other hand if it is designed to sound great in one range it lacks in the other. For example combining stereotypical Fender scooped sound amplifier and middle rich Marshall amplifier will result in sound having a lot of everything. For decades my main rig was half stack plus two 1x12 combos. Marshall with 4x12, blackplate and tweed combos. So 6 12” speakers. Plus gigantic pedal board most often with the pedal switcher and black magic used to keep the signal and not kill it with the pedal board. I have played it every night and I have never had people protesting or calling the Police despite the fact that some of them do not like me because I call BS when I see it. Needless to say that setup could have got me banned from most of the venues if used at high levels. So yes one can make 6 x 12” speaker quiet enough an still have some tone. Very hard but possible. Mind you that when you go with that setup to any rehearsal or gig you will need to adjust everything. Every pedal will sound different back on the proper volume. Lot of work will be required. Gain level that was nice at low level will be mostly way to high at proper stage volume. Even other effects will be overbearing at higher volume levels. You have to know your gear. And once again there is nothing like standing in front of a big rig and feeling air moving your pants legs and any loose hanging clothing. When guitar vibrates and interacts with the sound waves. Pity that sound levels are not obtainable any more for most of us. There fore make best out of what you have.

The Celestion loaded 2x12 is my personal favorite! It's been the main cab I use with a variety of heads since I first got it.

I actually use a 15 watt cabinet that has no amp in it. Got it for free with the Celesion 70/90 speaker and reverb tank still in it. Put a Hotone Mojo Diamond (Fender Tweed) amp head on top and went to work. It's a great cab especially for free.

From the first Harley Benton cabinet with a Celestine V30 I have been recommending them to everyone having tight budgets for their rigs. Simply because there was no better value, they sound good and are serviceable. When those came out they costed same as speaker on its own. No brainer. Even now every model has exceptional value. Now, please do not underestimate how many people do not have 1200 Euro for the top 2x12 but need good 2x12. Is Bartel, Mesa, Two Rock 2x12 better is not the question here. Question is are HB cabinets good? TLDR yes. Vintage 30 is not my cup of tea. But it is one of the most used guitar speakers ever. People love them and people hate them. Lot of misunderstanding comes from the fact that they were not always the same and as with most of the speakers they sound different in 8 and in 16 Ohm versions. First once were UK made and mostly versions made for Amplifier companies like Marshall. Later on most of the production went to China with UK making only speakers for big companies. Even those two UK made versions, being early and contemporary versions sound different. First once were less scooped sounding. Middle tones were more like classic Marshall then like scooped Mesa sound. 16 Ohm versions might sound bit more harsh and too heavy. Anyhow it is great to see that HB is using other Celestion speakers now. I personally think that in 1x12 Creamback H 75 Watt version would be better option because it is more balanced sounding speaker. Especially because 8 Ohm Creamback M 65 Watt version can be but to dark. Wile 2x12 tend to sound awesome with mix of M and H in the same box. M giving those typical middle tones and H adding top and bottom. Creamback H 75 Watt is just better Vintage 30. More definition, more balanced but still high sensitivity and control. Simple choice for 1x12. Sure I would like to see more options as well but I do understand logistical nightmare that would come from it. Some could say send all cabinets unloaded and build in speaker that client orders. Sure that would work but price would go significantly up. It would slow down the process as well. Now not all HB cabinets are built same. Some of them could use some help. Though this all depends on how you are going to use them. If it is for your home and you will plug the cable once in them and never moved them ever, there is no need to touch anything. Some versions have relatively weak input jacks and for people plugging in and moving cabinets often it might be good idea to change the jacks and solder all the wires. Use Puretone or Switchcraft jacks. Understand, lot of guitar players are snobbish and low priced products means bad for them. Avoid arguing. Enjoy your gear. If you want good cabinet for great price get HB cabinet. If you want boutique cabinet get that. No need to bash on people that make different choices in any direction it might be.

Thank god finally something that is not made in China!! I'm so happy Germany is finding ways to lessen its economic dependency on China and as for myself I'm more than willing to pay more if it means higher quality parts and overall products, even if it means more expensive work labour.
