You lost me when you said you've never heard of Kluscon Tuners. Seriously !! Puts in question what you do actually know.

I never bought a kluscon tuner in my life, I always went Grover or Schaller and my tuner issues were solved. Installing tuners are really a no brainier so never needed to delve deep into options. I'm a guitar player first and foremost and anything I learned has been through trial and error over 35 plus years. I never claimed to be luthier because I'm not.

I must admit, when my HB TE52 turned up ,all I had to do was polish the frets as they were a little rough and throw on a set of Ernie Ball 10's, the set up was great on mine ,straight out of the box, nice low action , neck was straight and it plays better out of the box than my Fender strat did, I suppose when it is a cheap guitar a few may fail to be a good as they could be out of the box, but I was very impressed with mine and would not hesitate in buying any more HB guitars

The crazy thing is, the relief and action trouble you described….I received an American Professional Fender last week in the exact same state. So bad the notes choked out altogether on the high e from the 12th fret up. This was the moment I decided I just wasn’t gonna spend that kind of money on a guitar again. In my experience which is pretty considerable by now, you really are better off getting a solid base and building your own, if you have the tools and skills of course. I filled my Thomann cart with this guitar and everything I worked out I would need to do a full mod except the pickups. It comes to 350e. A quarter the price of the AP, and I’m confident I can get it running beautifully without spending any more.

Do not point out the bad points on cheap guitars they are made for those who have not got two to four thousand dollars to spend on two pieces of wood screwed or glued together in the middle. Kluson was a brand of tuner years ago, and were made from pressed steel and could be bought in varying gear ranges.Gibson still use Kluson style tuners but now they make them with the Gibson name on the gear covers. Fender stopped using them around 1962. You can still get fenders with them on if you order one of the range of custom shop replicas. The electronics on guitars of the period were bought in as ex military stock so could vary from one day to the next and pickups varied depending on who hand wound them. Alnico refers to the material that the magnets are made of, you can change them for the old iron magnets that slowly loose magnetic power often giving a more mellow sound. The clue is in the description TE 52 NA Vintage Series, No matter how many expensive parts you put on it you will still be looking at a guitar that is only worth what you paid when you bought it. Set it up properly enjoy it for what it is for a few months then you will at least give it a chance before spending out.

I agree Sidney, and if I sell the guitar I will put all the original parts back on and mod another guitar. This guitar sounds great now and I'm enjoying it. Thanks for watching.

You basically agreed that the guitar is OK for the money so I don't see where the negativity in the comments is coming from... Good review, thanks.

Face it, the reason you have negative things about this guitar, is that the brand doesn't start with an"F", and doesn't End with "ender"! I've played Fender Telecasters for over 50 years, Kluson tuners? Really, Do you really have knowledge of what you speak? I'm from the left Coast, so our opinions will differ, but I was raised with guitars since the '60's. Kluson tuners are what's been used on guitars for years!

I didn't think my review was that bad, and I own 4 HB's so.... as far as Kluson tuners go...all my guitars I have owned did not need them to be replaced so I rarely ever replaced tuners. The TE-52 is a sweet guitar now after I upgraded it...that's a fact.

These are cool guitars but you get what you pay for, they're not made with the most expensive parts out there. All things considered the only real big expense to make are the pickups if you feel that need, the rest is all pretty cheap to modify, pots, tuners, shielding foil and maybe a set of compensated bridge saddles...... everything together is what? 60 $?

Hmmm American standard tele is Ash body Maple neck.... you obvious know nothing about fenders if you don't know what kluson tuners are? Alnico pickups in the HB are perfectly telly ( change the pots to cts and add a paper in oil capacitor and a treble beed mod) and it will sound just as nice as your American standard. They are twangy and spanky if you want more and iron gear pickups... amazing guitar for under £130
