The Tube5 has a speaker output. Why not play both amps through the 2x12 cabinet for a fairer comparison?

Both surprisingly good, by themselves or With pedals ( i like Them too)! I would go for the Mighty 5th Just for added versatility in other occasions than Just home playing! For home use only the tube 5 Is perfect!👍🏼

Would be nice if they could get the OEM that makes the Monoprice 30W head to make a HB Tube 30 branded one as well, I would be super on board for that one!

Looking forward to one day seeing a two channel 20 watt Head from Harley Benton. Something that has a nice balance between a modern and vintage sound. It’s long overdue.

Tube5 stays pretty clean. I like that. 6v6 output valve and just a tone control is like an early Princeton. The mighty 5 clearly goes for crunch. EL84. Bass and treble tone controls will rob some signal..

Can you explain about the 230V and that in the United States we need some sort of convertor or something? I want to buy this, but I don't know what that means, or can I purchase that at the same time as the little amp itself? Anybody on here have advice?
@HarleyBentonOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Yes you would need a variac!

I still have the hopes that HB will make a Head with the same options as the Positive Grid Spark. Or even a practice amp like the Spark. Basicly a little like JOYO did with the Dual Kloonz. Just better and more user friendly.

The Tube 5 is 99 Euro? The Mighty-5th and that G212 cabinet is 379 Euro. For the bedroom amp I would go for the Tube5 if I had to choose between the two. ps. I have the Tube 15 myself, but thinking of getting G212 Vintage (vertical) because the value on that cabinet is insane.

Great amplifiers!! I'm interested in the might 5 because of the 0.1w option to play at home but I have a question. How would it sound with a chorus pedal? Is one of the two better than the other for that specific thing?
@Nev3rOver3 жыл бұрын
Hello. Can you play a Big Muff or OD pedal easily ? (at what volume ?)
@Ardolynk2 күн бұрын
Indeed, the combo amp has no attenuation. Instead, "1W" button cuts the gain as like as a 'high input" on Fender Custom Champ (same I can get with my guitar volume knob). This baby is too loud for my bedroom so think twice... but I prefer its sound over Mighty 5th.

The Tube5 sounds nice, apart from the missing rectifier tube very much like a Tweed Champ/Princeton. The Mighty-5TH theoretically offers some more controls, but sounds a little too scratchy an inharmonious for my taste. This is no Tweed amp sound, but also no WEM, Vox, early Marshall sound for me. My Killer Ant and my Wild 13 sound more British, more harmonious and nail a typical British tone much better and more professional. But the Tube5 could be a good addition for this typical Clapton/Layla, Gibbons/La Grange American crunch sounds and the very puristic clean sounds anyway are some sort of reference sounds since decades. Also good news, HB has just released the Tube5 and the Tube15 as heads only too, which is nice for me, as I meanwhile mostly prefer using tube amps with load box and cabinet IR's. Very interesting on the TUbe 5 is the power attenuation, wih is not based on the typical post OT resistor, but it is cathode resistor based, so it seems to sound more naturally and without the otherwise typical resistive load treble and dynamics loss. Well made, while the Mighty-5TH seems to habe a regular power attenuator built in, but from it I did not find the schematics, so I am not sure, only find it strange, that it has separate attenuators for the speaker outputs.

The small Voxes have issues w hiss, Night Train, AC4. And thet are nowhere near classic Vox sounding, just souped up for the modern player. Enough to look elsewhere.
@HEZ638 ай бұрын
Obviously my experience differs from yours. My AC4C1 is completely noiseless, so I cannot complain, and I also like the hotter wiring, as I anyway never use clean sounds.

Positive Grid Spark smart amp wipes the floor. This coming from a guy with over a dozen amps, including a hot-Rodded valve Junior. We’re talking BEDROOM amps here. The spark is so much more than just a great sounding amp. All for the cost of an effects pedal. “Come to the dark side...."(modeling)
