I was an Auto Technician for 46yrs before retiring about 5yrs ago and also did a 1yr stint in Honda, Triumph and Yamaha motorcycle shop back in 1975. So no cover over the gas tank or fender to keep brake fluid off that nice paint, putting the reservoir cap face down on the lift and if your going to flush the system what about including the rear brake in your video. Also what's up with the gold watch just waiting to get brake fluid on that lol. One thing I learned when wrenching is get rid of the jewelry, rings and watches come off before the day starts and put them on when your going home bro. I have seen a guy loose a finger because his wedding ring got caught on a engine repair he was doing and also saw a guy get his wrist burned when his watch crossed the starter positive lead while he was reaching up in there to fix an exhaust leak. I will also say I made many mistakes over the years as it's all part of the learning process and don't regret a single day making a living repairing Auto's or motorcycles as I do most of my own work on my 2005 Road King that I have had for 16yrs now .

Superb video: this is what happens when you entrust your bike to the dealership! Thanks for enlightening us.

I wouldn’t have set that master cylinder lid on the bike lift face down it could pickup dirt, metal shavings or other types of fluid. Plus I would have covered the gas tank & fender. Neatness counts for a lot when judging someone doing maintenance whether doing mechanical or electrical or any kind of work. Thanks for the video!

Nor suck every last drop out of the reservoir. Leave the holes leading to the lines covered with fluid to stop air from entering the system lol

@@PitbullSoco Gonna empty both rear and front brake systems on my bike this weekend to have calipers and master cylinders painted. I guess I´ll just put the nozzle of the bleeder on the caliper nipple and let it bleed until there´s not one drop left and then disconnect the cables with rags covering?

Got a lot to learn, I went to MMI and I’m still learning all the time, but little mistakes like not covering a take or laying parts on a clean soft service can make the big difference between the best Techs and the novice.
@JakobKaizen10 ай бұрын
From what I´ve learnt thus far it´s basically this: Cover everything that´s paint or that could get stained from the brake fluid, basically the whole bike. Wrap the calipers in a rag. Never put the master cylinder cover on anything other than a clean surface/rag. No?

Wouldn't wear watch or rings when working on bikes. That way you don't scratch things and less chance of getting finger caught on something!

Hence the reason I am doing all my own work now. Looks to be a brand new bike off the floor...with fresh DOT over a lot of the bike and a contaminated gasket placed back in the fluid.

Hey Boy, what about brake fluid splashing onto the painted surfaces like the fuel tank and fender? I worry about what happens behind the doors at the dealeship when I'm not allowed in there because of "insurance reasons". I've heard some horror stories of bikes getting scratched by mechanics, and in this case splashing or mist onto the paint.

Also... should have the brake pads pushed back all the way in so that the fluid sitting in the caliper gets pushed out with the fluid change. Otherwise the old fluid in the caliper will remain.

Hi there. I'm looking for extinct rear brake seals and piston for an Australian release 1978 SR500e Yamaha. Found one kit in the world but they want about $330oz for it when most other kits are about $35. The cylinder is 5/8" it's cast on the outside of the cylinder 5/8". They seem to be unique to the SR500e's and XS400e's, only. If you mention the word Yamaha to the local Harley places it causes some kind of seizure or mental blockage so I was wondering if you or your viewers could help with a very basic question. Forgetting the piston. Just the seals would do. It looks like a kit from a 1982-87 Harley could be what I'm looking for. The cup seal that sits against the inner end of the piston over the spring and against the 6 petals of the reed sought of valve thing must be the same as the cup seal on my SR they have the same type of valve and are 5/8". The information I'm looking for relates the other seal the one like a cup but with the hole through it that is on the outer end of the piston. Could anybody tell me the diameter of the part of the piston where this seal sits and how is this seal retained in place. The SR is 9.55mm at this part of the piston and the seal is retained by a small ring cast around the piston under the centre of the seal about 1 mm wide and not much higher than 1mm. Any help to solve this mystery would be a benefit to all SR500e XS400e owners globally. Found tons of photos of the kit but none without this seal removed from the piston. Thanks.

This is why the dealership did the 1K break in service (which I’m sure was horribly overpriced) and that’s the last time it will be at the dealership for repairs.

Luckily that Dot 4 didn't get on any paint, I hope the cover was wiped clean before going back on... and please dont use a torx to replace a allen especially on a DIY video.

Looks super easy with a brake bleeder. Need to have mine done on my 2015 Limited. Not sure how the ABS changes the way it's done tho.
@fastjax7 жыл бұрын
Ryan's V-Twin Vlogs your supposed to connect to digital tech to bleed ABS models, They bleed the same way, I've heard of guys doing it just the normal way like this without DT, but I've heard it can void your warranty on the system.

@jonnymac89254 жыл бұрын
Two years or 13000 miles. It isn't exclusively one.
@PitbullSoco2 жыл бұрын
Miles mean nothing to brakes lol. They aren't doing anything for the majority of the miles where it's rolling down the highway lmao. Just go with timeframe...2 years is good.
