Harley Davidson 2015 and newer Road Glide Instrument removal

Servus my motorbike friends, we are removing the instruments on a 2015 and newer Road Glide. This is necessary to install heated grips, adjust or change the bars or to loosen the top fork clamp pinch bolts for a suspension upgrade.

Thanks for the video, I caught you on Matt Laidlaws podcast. Can you do a heated grip install on a road glide? I did mine last year and I’m not getting any power using the HD Kahuna grips... I’ve heard sometimes the plug can be wired backwards from factory but I’m not sure where to go next... also I broke the clip on my cover so I’ll be sure to use your method on the new one!

What year is your Road Glide? The newer ones should have both connectors within the instrument housing. Is the throttle grip side connected properly?

@@stefansgarage3014 it’s a 2019. I thought so but I’ll have to pull it apart and have another look. After watching your videos I need to get a rattle killer as well!

@@Cbtucks 2019, it definitely has both connectors in the instrument cluster, mine is a 2019 as well. I'll check in the service manual later to give you the wire colors and check the throttle grip connector while installing the Rattlekiller...

Will bike start and have turn signals work with the gauge cluster removed and unplugged ?

I haven’t tried, but you definitely create some fault codes and a check engine light by doing that.

Removed the ignition switch to replace that stupid chrome switch cover but now have no power to the key. There is no power and no codes

Hard to tell, maybe you misaligned the different levels. Can only be solved with an ignition switch alignment tool
