this is not a good deal. you could just have gotten a sportster for under 10k and have put 5k in motor upgrades and have the same hp and maybe the same torque. i hate the front end light, its horrendous. not to mention you wont have a shit position for your exhaust!
@leftlane_miata3 жыл бұрын
@@red2432 so what exactly is your point? you could also go buy a Honda CBR600RR and run circles around a built air cooled sportster for $4k if you desired. The new sportster S is a great value for the dollar given all the features and its competition. If you don't care for the modern features or styling, the beauty of it is, nobody is forcing you to buy it or preventing you from sticking with an older model year bike. Harley needed to make this move years ago, so its nice to finally see them modernize.

What a beast! A lot of HD fans might think it’s to modern… but really.. HD doesn’t have a choice on the motor changes because of regulations. This is what younger riders want, an like to see. I love my old sportster, but I also think this is looking REALLY good!!

Many faults: 1) Does not come with mid controls. Have to separately pay $700 for mid controls. 2) Single front disc brake on a "sport" bike? 3) Rear suspension travel is too short! 4) Rev limiter in neutral? Why? Hopefully 2022 model will address these shortcomings.

The biggest deal with the Sportster S is the new engine and how it’s going to be upsized in power and torque for touring models due to two up riding and heavy gear they haul. Also it appears this revolution max engine has all the flaws of prior air cooled engines designed out. Liquid cooling, full counter balancing, ease of maintenance, smoother shifting, and less moving parts are all welcomed and it took a new CEO to get all the technology advancements out. The days of hot volcano air cooled engines are over. Harley Davidson had to start producing Cadillac smooth motorcycles that people use to go to the competition to get, old schoolers and old MC clubs can’t dictate the forward thinking and direction. I have owned a 88ci, 96ci and now a Milwaukee 8 107 street glide which I love, but I never liked the 3 hole oil change and shifting clunk and having to drive illegally to get out of standstill traffic being air cooled even with a fan assisted oil cooler.
